Previously, I shared with you that my first-grade son hasn't able to read and didn't want to study. I persevered too much to teach him. I stopped discussing the modules with him. I want to see if he learns anything even though the modality of his study is modular. Then we're both going to do a review and give him a spelling challenge on what I taught him about syllables. When I taught him to read, he learned. In the spelling challenge, I would see if he had really learned or just memorized the words I had taught him.
