My rejection story.

Regina came from a family where their parents decide everything for the kids. Her elder siblings didn't have a choice but to bow to their parent's decision and the fact that some of them became successful at what was chosen for them made her parents feel like gods.

A few days before her secondary school leaving examination an argument started at home which had to do with what she was going to study at the University.

Regina barged out of her parents in anger because she made it clear that she was going to pursue her music career after secondary school and her parent threatened not to pay her school fee if she refuse to be an engineer.

"I joined science class because of them and now they have to decide which course to take at the University," Regina murmured as she kicked her school bag that was laying on the floor in her room.

She sat down on her bed and was breathing heavily. Regina's behavior in the house changed from that moment and it gave her mother a lot of concern.

Regina couldn't wait for the exams to be over and she started working as a sales promoter for a company.

She was getting good wages because she always made good sales.

Her parents got the University admission form for her but she turned it down. Her father threatened to send her packing out of the house if she didn't bend to their will and Regina knew they weren't joking with her.

She tried to make them understand what she had a passion for but they wouldn't just listen. Her siblings turned against her as well, they claimed that they could have supported her if she choose something other than music.

She was left to fight her battles alone and everything became tiring for her. Regina thought of recording one out of her many written songs to convince her family that she was good at music and hopefully, they will support her.

"Church is the only place they have seen me perform so they might need stronger proof," she paced around the room thinking further about how to have a good recording section.

Regina started making her findings about recording she was shocked it would cost her a lot. She was determined on making it happen so she took her savings to get the job done.

She called the family together before dinner on Sunday and told them she had something to show them.

Everyone gathered and she played the music. Her dad left the sitting room in anger and two of her siblings even booed her before going to the dining.

Regina was broken at that moment and she thought that she might have probably been wasting her time. She begged the family while they were having dinner and agreed to become an engineer.

She couldn't eat her meal and everyone encouraged her to embrace engineering because she will become successful at it.

Months passed and Regina got into the University after a series of examinations.

She blended in well and started her journey with the course on good ground. Her first year was a success and she was well-recognized in her department.

Her coursemates organized an end-of-the-section party to celebrate their success in the just concluded examination and Regina didn't hesitate to attend.

It was an in-house party and the organizer just managed to make it fun.

They were having a great time when the power supply was seized and they needed to start listening to music from a blue tooth speaker. Regina volunteered to play music from her phone since she had tons of good dancehall music.

While the music was playing, Regina stopped dancing suddenly and rushed to pause the song that was playing.

Everyone was surprised why she did that because they were enjoying the intro of that particular song.

"Allow it to play girl, we love that into"

Regina didn't want to listen to the song and when everyone insisted, she opened up that it was her song and she did rubbish to it.

They got interested more because she said the song was her own and Regina was surprised at how they grooved to the song. Her song was on replay for quite some time and she had to leave the dance floor because got emotional.

Some friends talked about it after the party and Regina told her story to them. One of the students uploaded their party dance on Tiktok and Regina's song started trending.

She wanted to take the song off Tiktok because her family would get mad at her if they got to know about it but things were beyond her power.

Regina because a star on campus and she was dragged into various campus talent shows which she won. In her third year, she got a recording contract from one of the artists in the state.

She begged the artist to give her a year more so she can complete her studies and he agreed.

Regina graduated with good grades and she handed her certificate to her dad after she received it at the graduation ceremony. While they were taking pictures, Regina was called on stage to entertain the students and guests.

The students started chanting her name and she was shivering as she went on stage. She got the microphone and apologized to her parents for doing what they didn't want her to do.

She told the crowd she has a new song for them and she wept while singing because it was her rejection story. Her mother couldn't hold back tears as Regina was pouring out her mind with music.

She gave them a song to dance to as well and the event ended really well. Regina got home with her parent and she told them she was going into music now that she has given them the result they wanted.

Her father felt bad and the family apologized for looking down on her passion. Regina became a star and her fame positively influenced the family. She became a pride to the family and her success put an end to the family tradition of deciding their children's future.

Sometimes that's the sad thing that those people who important to us, they are the one who never supported us, they look down on us, they never believe on us.

I think that part of life, even the people who are attached sometimes do not believe in us and I am glad the character didn't allow the setback to get into her head.

Regina acted wisely to go for her parents wanted her to do and in the end, she went in her own line. One thing parents needs to understand is that you cannot kill a child's passion for a thing. Even if he or she was forced, there will always be a way out to be known. Beautiful story.

That's right, she was wise to have done that. She might not have gotten a shot at her dream if she was completely against their wish.

All your stories have a meaning to it. And as usual this one also too good. Here also in most places passions remain only as passion in their heart where children are forced to go as per their parents will.

I will always remember that as a parent, my children have their own life to live and I'm here to be their guide and support and love them forever even the time comes their old enough to make their own way in the world.

I know there are many Regina out there. And parents like them. I wish they are all gonna be a happy ending.

You are right, not many of the Regina out there end beautifully like the one in the story. Parents should be supportive as long as their children's dreams are realistic.

Some times nobody sees our dream, not even our own parents, but then we try to be who we really are to be successful
