Busting a myth: Cryptocurrency is a scam.

The first day I heard the statement that "Cryptocurrency is a scam", I knew for sure that the government of various countries are not happy about the power and development the innovation is bringing to the human race. From that day, I feared that there are people who could go at any length to tarnish the image of anything that stands as a hindrance to their obsession or greed. Without much explanation, you will agree with the fact that Cryptocurrency is a big threat to the government because of the freedom it gives from the shackles of the Central Banks, you having complete control of your finance is not something that gives them a bit of happiness.

Know this today that one of the quickest ways the government can take you down is by depriving you access to your fund and they can make you bend to their wish.

Do you doubt it? Imagine if there wasn't crypto and the government decided to freeze the account of people who resisted the Covid19 Vaccine, a lot of people would bend to the will of the government just to have their money because it plays a vital role in our survival.

A short experience...

In 2014, I struggled to raise my school fee in the polytechnic, and since I didn't get it at once, saving it in the bank until I got everything was the best idea for me to ensure the money was safe. I finally got it all on a Friday after doing a series of part-time jobs and the school payment portal would close the next day which was on Saturday, I went to the cyber cafe that same day to make the payment online but it wasn't successful and after contacting the customer care, I got to discover that my account was frozen.

Every effort I made trying to make them understand my condition failed, I was told to go to the bank where I opened the account at the time when the banks are almost closed and going to the branch they said would take me about 3hours trip which would be a waste of time. It took God's grace for me to write the exams on Saturday/Sunday and I went through the whole week's stress to ensure my account was unfrozen.

Why wouldn't I be able to solve a problem with an account in any branch of the bank?

Why would I need to return to the bank where the account was opened?

Does it mean that most of our data are stored manually?

A lot of questions crossed my mind and less I forget, the account was frozen because the person who came to do physical verification of my address gave a false report that I no longer live there whereas I was still living there meaning, he or she never came to check.

At the time I heard the statement during a live TV program, I was new to crypto and didn't understand a lot of things but I understood the fact that with crypto, we all can enjoy what we call Financial Freedom which we have been deprived of before a great number of people tapped into opportunities available in the crypto-verse. Thanks to the Internet, we can travel around the world from the comfort of our homes and despite having global facts to bust the myth about Crypto being a scam, I love to use my home "Nigeria" as a specimen.

The Nigerian youth have been through hell for embracing crypto, it led to the death of many in the hands of the police because we were been referred to as fraudsters for using innovation from the future. Embracing freedom became a crime and it made us understand the fact that we were never free, they tried stopping the youth but it failed. You do be wondering why the youth didn't let go of what the government tagged as a scam, they said crypto was made the steal from us when they are the real thieves. We made the choice not to quit, the consequences should be our problem and not the government problem but they are aware that the path we choose will lead us to success and freedom which is what they never wanted us to have.

Do you know that the same Crypto that was called scam made way for many Nigerians?

* The issue of unemployment is happening all over the world but it has eaten deeper into the root of my beloved country and there came crypto, it gave the Nigerian youths hope as we learned how to earn a living by doing lots of things in the crypto verse. After all, there are countless opportunities available in the crypto verse.

I earned my first crypto from writing an article in 2018 and a great number of Nigerian earn on various crypto paying site, they live on their earnings since there isn't enough job and even plan on bringing their dreams to reality. It doesn't stop at writing, there are countless opportunities I got to know about and didn't hesitate to take advantage of them after having the proper knowledge.

After losing my job in 2019, it has been all about crypto and I bless God because I am doing better than when I was doing an 8am - 6pm job.

* In October 2020, a nationwide protest started in the country because the youths demanded changes in the government administration and reform in the police since the people who were meant to protect us are now killers. Several bank accounts were opened for donations to support the youths that were on the ground for the peaceful protest but the government froze the accounts because they saw how determined the youth were and if they had everything they needed, they wouldn't stop the protest.

The same crypto that was called a scam saved the day as people started donating in crypto instead of fiat, the government knew they were losing and had to kill the youth spirit by killing lots of them in the Lekki massacre shooting. (May the souls of the people who lost their lives during the protest rest in perfect peace.)

After the experience, the government looked into the impact of crypto on the youth and knew they were losing out in the battle of restricting the youth to a particular limit of growth. They decided to place a ban on crypto in Nigeria but they were mistaken because they failed to understand that they don't have power over our digital wallet and they stepped in using the security agencies to curb our growth.

Several crypto exchanges stopped working but the peer-to-peer option gave us an edge over the government since the banks started freezing accounts that have anything to do with crypto transactions.

The question remains that why are they threatened when they have nothing to lose? If our fund is what is at risk, a government that doesn't bother about our lives shouldn't protect our interest in what they call a scam.

In conclusion, this same government that called crypto a scam went on to create their coin and named it e-naira.

Would they have done that if crypto was a scam?

They know crypto is the future and they don't want to miss out on it but they are scared they won't have any power over the youth or citizens of the countries anymore. The e-naira would have helped them still keep the growth of the youth in control but many of the people ignore e-naira which automatically made it a failed project.

Dragging the name " Cryptocurrency" into the mud is a waste of time because millions of people globally know what values crypto is bringing into the world, these same powers that are against crypto aren't preaching against numerous Ponzi scheme that is impacting people's life negatively because it is not a threat to them.

Defending their greed by calling crypto a scam is a terrible mistake and I am glad a lot of people stood by crypto regardless of the negative reports they release every day.

Welcome to a country where the government don't want a better future for the youth. We are told that we are the future ,but they are making the future to look blur that one could not even see clearly, they call us the leader of tomorrow, but I they took over all the sit without a single one, rather they want us to remain on the floor where we will never move forward.

And any attempt we made to stand up from the floor, they try all possible means to draw us back, they look for one way or the other to stop the hand that want to lift us up, their soul filled with nothing but wickedness!

Cryptocurrency is a thing that Nigeria government don't want right from onset, because they could see how bright the future will be with cryptocurrency. And they don't want the youth to benefit from , they want to allow us to continue to lick their shoes before we can survive. But no matter how hard they might try , there's are not going to stop cryptocurrency in Nigeria.

Even if you want to stop a child from breastfeeding, you must make use the food that child will eat is ready, but reverse is the case when it comes to my country Nigerian, they are trying to block the way through which we are surviving, but they are not providing any alternative for us, definitely they want us to die in hunger.

My country is producing millions of graduates every single year, but there's no hope for a job, , and yet they want to stop the source through which we survive, isn't that crazy? they are just trying to stop us is vain... we move.

Anytime you bring Nigeria matter to the table, I will fill like writing till my hand aches, Nigeria case is an epistle that cannot finish in a day, please permit me my rants.... hehehehe

Some countries are not very enthusiastic about crypto currency the case of Nigeria is somewhat worse because it doesn't have any favorable policies. Even the traditional bank system is established to frustrate imagine dialling a USSD code and #6.89 is taken even you have not selected what you want to do and they will send you a debit alert. There are lots of I'll debits and you can't trace . If crypto currency is a scam it's most preferable at least I have power over my asset everything is open . If I trade with caution and avoid greed scammers won't get me. However, crypto currency is a light on our path hope in a country where's no hope.

Oh, it is true. Most country governments are not letting cryptocurrency earnings go without being taxed. Well done. Keep up the spirit for commenting.

Cryptocurrency is neither good or bad, it all depends on the person that's using it and that's why it is wrong for people to say it's a scam. The reason many people say it's a scam is because they don't understand it, maybe they have lost some money or they have seen someone that lose all their money due to bad trading style, so they end up concluding that it's scam but in the midst of all that bad experience, many of us has been blessed immensely by crypto

Thanks for the compliment, I feel glad to get your comment here. The government are definitely not doing anything to help the youth and things would have been worse than this without crypto.

Youre very right! My government once again gave out a warning not to invest in crypto. They are just trying to protect their own interests

Greedy people, one day they will see that they have lost everything that they use in holding us down. Until then, we won't see proper democracy in the world.
