Contrary to common belief, negative thinking is necessary. I always expect the worst in everything, but I don't consider it as the absolute outcome, but rather, a possibility. Negative thinking is inevitable, but you are able to make use of it by doing three things; (1) expect the worst and analyze the circumstance, (2) deal with it, (3) accept the outcome. The third step would be easily done based on the execution of the first. You lessen the damage when you expected it. Take a sad movie as an example, if you are spoiled of the ending, you are less likey to cry about it than it does with people who have no idea of how the story turns out. Plus, you can think of what to do in case the speculation occurs. I'm not saying I successfully suppressed my emotions by doing these. There are also instances where I get surprised and overwhelmed when I fail to analyze the situation beforehand. But the twist is, I can easily accept it or solve it. If I can't, I let it be. Don't overanalyze the things that are beyond your control.
