En aquel tiempo se disparaba a las 4 de la madrugada anunciando la apertura de las puertas y a las 8 pm para el cierre. Cuando se escuchaba este anuncio se subía hasta una cadena para evitar la entrada y salida de barcos a la bahía. Sólo se dejó de escuchar entre los años 1943 y hasta el 1945 por la Segunda Guerra mundial. La hora de la ceremonia cambio en el año 1902 y hasta la fecha se escucha con magistral exactitud hasta nuestros días.
