I Hate My Anger, But I'm Learning to Live with It

*“Leaving rage behind,* *we rise toward love—* *not because it’s easy,* *but because it’s right.”* People often see me as calm. Someone who stays quiet, someone who understands. And most of the time, I do. I don’t get angry easily. But when I do… it scares me. Because that anger doesn’t come gently. It rises all at once—loud, overwhelming, and uncontrollable. And I hate that version of myself. I hate how it makes me say things I don’t mean. How it hurts the very people I love. But when the anger is gone, silence replaces it. Not a peaceful silence—but a heavy, regretful one. A silence full of questions: “Why did I say that?” “What damage did I just do?” And the only thing I know how to do then—is cry. Not just because I feel bad, but because I truly don’t know how to undo what’s already been said. I’ve lost someone precious this way. I apologized, yes. They accepted it. But something between us changed. Even now, I miss them deeply. But I can’t just say “I miss you” anymore, because that space doesn’t exist between us now. Another friend once told me, “You lose control when you’re angry.” And it hit me hard. Because they were right. Since then, I’ve been trying.Trying to stay silent when I feel the heat rise in my chest. Trying to pause before I speak. Trying to remember that some things, once said, can’t be taken back. I don’t always succeed. But I’ve started doing one thing differently—When I hurt someone, I try to say “I’m sorry” from the heart. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when my pride wants me to stay silent. I don’t know if this helps them heal. But I hope, at least, they feel seen. And for me—it’s a small step toward peace. Dear Reader, If you’ve ever hurt someone in anger and wished you could take it back—You’re not alone. I’m not here to give advice. I’m still figuring it out myself. But if anything I said feels familiar, maybe this is your reminder too: We can't always stop anger from rising. But we can learn to hold it gently, and respond with care, even when it's hard. Maybe today, we can start asking ourselves: 💭 Is pride worth more than the people we love? Or is it time to choose softness, even when we’re burning inside? I’m still learning. If you are too—then maybe we can keep learning together. 🤍 **Before You Go… Just Think Once** We didn’t come to this world to stay forever. And the truth is—we don’t know if we’ll ever see that one friend again, the one we hurt in anger. Life is short, unpredictable, and painfully fragile. So maybe, just maybe—it’s time to let go of pride and embrace the ones we love. Because some people in our life are not just friends—they are our well-wishers, our safe spaces. And those people, they are not meant to be lost over temporary emotions. Yes, it’s okay to silently step away from those who drain us, those who constantly bring negativity. But the ones who truly care for us— Let’s not lose them. Not over anger. Not over ego. Not over something we’ll regret. Because in the end, the people who truly wish the best for us— are the rarest kind of people in this world. Let’s hold them close. Before it’s too late.🕊️
