Books, Books, and Books! Children are so fond of books as required by their school management. Up to $50 has been used to buy books for my 2 kids in elementary school. The money to buy the books is not the problem but that these books can only be used for just a term and cannot be used by anyone ever again. The private school system we have keeps changing syllabus and school books every term so no one can pass the books to their younger siblings after them. Even if my younger child is getting promoted to a higher class for which the elder one just finished she can't use the books her brother passed down since there is a different syllabus.
