Cast down but not destroyed

The title of this article is the title of an old gospel song we used to sing in the 90s, and, as I type this, my life is a vivid reflection of that song; I'm cast down, but not destroyed.

Am trying to be strong as I type this, the incident that happened to me yesterday is so overwhelming and heartbroken. Yet I have to be strong, though cast down, am not destroyed. I'm trying hard not to cry. But I'm having to get through this. This is my challenge and my life. It's been so hard to come to terms with the fact that I've much to deal with in the coming days. The pain is there, but yet I have to be strong.

When I returned home in the evening yesterday, the first thing I did was go straight to my bedroom and kneel in prayer and place my current challenges in the hands of God who knows me. Even though I was cast down because of the circumstances I encountered during the day, I still have to thank God, and as soon as I knelt the words that came to mind was this; "you were only cast down but not destroyed" these words faith helps me to deal with the current situation.

I started the day with a bright side with my wife as we left very early on a business trip. Everything was planned, even the car, but our trip was something I wished we had never done. My car has a technical problem along the way. The engine was heating up so that the car's engine had to stop. I tried my best to find out why the engine was overheating, but I couldn't find it. I decided to put fresh water in a water tank, perhaps that would help cool the engine. Yes, the engine cool down, we started the engine and continued our journey. After another 30 minutes, we would stop again because the engine was hot again and it stopped working.

My heart was pounding as I got out of the car and we were in the middle of nowhere with no visible mechanic shop. I closed my eyes and whispered a brief prayer for God to send us a helper. As soon as I opened my eyes, a car pulled over from the other side of the road and stop in front of our car. This was a God-sent miracle. I was grateful that things went well and quickly. The guy in the car was an auto mechanic who helped me find the fault in the car and fix it.

It was found that one of the cooling fans was previously inactive which was the cause of the engine overheating. I was grateful to this good Samaritan who came to help us to solve a problem that might've to lead to a disaster.

We started the car engine again and continued our journey, and one hour later, we arrived at our destination. Some kind of relief, however, we were a little late in the business we had come for. Nevertheless, we quickly looked for people with whom we should do business to start whatever we came for. But while I was trying to open the back door of my car to take out the goods we were selling, one of the doors refused to open and was slammed shut. All attempts to force the door open failed. I took the goods out of one door on the open side and a business agreement began.

Nevertheless, I was worried and uncomfortable because of the slammed car door. An observer asked me to take the car to a specialist nearby to fix it. I agreed and took the car there. What an experience I have to go through because of the door. It would not open despite all the expert's efforts. The boy untied the door locks inside the car, and right there, the door slammed shut, and the only way to open it was to force it open. The technician used some of his tools to open it forcefully but not without breaking certain parts of the lock.

The door finally opened, but there was more trouble. I will not be able to lock the door again unless I buy a new set of locks. As if that wasn't enough, the windscreen roller was found to be broken. How this happened I can't say, I couldn't hold the technician responsible for that, after all, I was the one who brought him my car to force open the door. From trying to solve one problem I got two more difficult problems to deal with.

The technician assembled the door scales and tried to set the windscreen in place so that it would not break now that the judging machine had been damaged. He set it up as well as he could, and I paid him even though I was having a hard time dealing with the door lock and the windscreen roller.

My wife came to meet me at the tech store after completing the day's business agreement. We started back home. We were only riding for about fifteen minutes when I heard a loud bang as if shot from behind a car. I was shocked to see the back window shatter. The side that broke the roller due to forcing the door that had previously opened has broken on its own. That is a big problem for me. I felt cast down, and for the one hour, thirty minutes drive back home, thinking about how much I would have to spend to solve all these problems overwhelmed me. And as soon as I got out of the car I went into my bedroom to pour out my troubles before God.

And in my place of prayer, these words ruled my heart;

"I'm trading my sorrows, I trading my fears, I'm laying them down for the joy of the Lord".

"I am cast down, but I am not crushed; persecuted, but not abandoned; brought down, but not destroyed. I'm blessed beyond the course cause his mercies will ensure and his joy gonna be my strength".

Yeah, I concur with your submission, and that's what why the first thing I did when I returned home was to go on my knees, giving God thanks for all the experiences.

Reading your article the first thing that came to my mind was a biblical passage: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly". They wanted to steal, kill and destroy your spiritual peace, your sales, your finances, your car, but you are more than conqueror. Greetings friend.
