This is a serious concern that the Bitcoin cash house in african countries must take into consideration, if Bitcoin cash is to help Africa catch up with the rest of the world. But why is Africa lagging behind in Bitcoin cash adoption?

The problems

African population are interested in Bitcoin cash and other crypto currencies, however, this interest doesn't appear to be leading to increase in adoption rates of Bitcoin cash in the continent. What is standing on the way?

Fear.

Fear is one of the major factors preventing Bitcoin cash in gaining mass adoption in Africa. Majority sees crypto currencies as something too risking to invest in. And Bitcoin cash being still young in creation needs to be more cautious about.

Lack of regulations.

Lack of regulations is one major factor limiting Bitcoin cash mass adoption in Africa. Almost all countries of Africa has strict regulations limiting the use of Crypto currencies, and of course Bitcoin cash. No legislation is made for its usage. what this means is that Bitcoin cash and other Crypto currencies are illegal money. In this case citizens are exposed to scammers, which makes them courteous about Bitcoin cash and largely its mass adoption in Africa.

Lack of awareness.

Lack of awareness about Bitcoin cash is another contributing factor to the low rates of its adoption. Bitcoin cash is still a foreign concept to majority in Africa. Only a very small percentage of Africans have knowledge about Bitcoin cash. These are a few young tech entthusiats, Crypto currencies traders and freelancers. The higher percentage of the African population has no knowledge about Bitcoin cash. Bitcoin cash is expected to help the unbanked have access to financial services and regulates the process of obtaining crypto currencies across the world. How can this be possible?

THE WAY FORWARD.

Initiating a start up working with Bitcoin cash.

Start ups such as airdrop of Bitcoin cash can make many people have access to the Bitcoin cash community. Such airdrops with referral benefits will go a long way to achieving mass adoption of Bitcoin cash in Africa.

Organising workshops to teach people across Africa the benefits of Bitcoin cash.

Bitcoin cash house in each African countries to organize workshops across countries to educate people about Bitcoin cash and its benefits. Most people who have not heard about Bitcoin cash and those who still cannot differentiate between Bitcoin BTC and Bitcoin cash BCH can be educated properly through this medium.

Introduction of Bitcoin cash based apps.

It is interesting to note today, a lot of appreciations now runs on a blockchain promoting one Crypto currency or the other. The introducion of Bitcoin cash decentralized blockchain applications for Africans can gain the Bitcoin cash community a lot of users across African continent. Such DAPPS that reward users with Bitcoin cash Satoshis is an ideal way to pilot mass adoption of Bitcoin cash in Africa.

Creating a local Bitcoin cash wallet that directly support exchange of Bitcoin cash to local currencies in Africa.

Exchanging any crypto currency required an exchanger who acts as the middle man between the sender and the receiver. These exchangers usually collect fees for their jobs which can sometimes be unrealistic to many. With a local Bitcoin cash wallet that directly support exchange of Bitcoin cash to local currencies across Africa, a lot of mechart who deals in crypto currencies will switch to Bitcoin cash. Also the unbanked majority can easily get funds sent to them from family members and friends using Bitcoin cash local wallet.

Integration with mobile money services

Mobile money services are gaining ground across Africa reaching the unbanked population in villages and clans. Integrating Bitcoin cash with such services can make Bitcoin cash gain more users. In this case, the mobile money services now serve as the exchanger. To achieve this Bitcoin cash developers need to make a deal with any popular mobile money services in Africa to facilitate the easy take off of such project, thus increasing the adoption of Bitcoin cash.

The adoption of Bitcoin cash in Africa will need the majority of the population to have access to the crypto currency and feel confident using it.

One of the things that crypto currencies lack is tangibility. That causes fear and the mass adoption is hurdled .

Yes, a lot of fear hinders adoption. People tend to be careful about using crypto currencies because is not tangible. But with government regulations supporting its usage such fear can be abated

Exactly but many governments in the world are also afraid of this initiative as the main stream banks will have less control

Africa has been blessed for land of opportunity. But due to Political and administrative structure, it has not to be at par what it supposed to be. Awareness will be definitely solutions for mass adoption but first thing would be require access to internet as around 40% is able to access internet. From my perspective, it would be feasible to give incentive for using cryptocurrency and blockchain technology and platforms like read.cash or any other. That will greatly benefit it.

The major problem contributing to the low adoptions rate of BCH in Africa is the high cryptocurrency-illiteracy level of the cryptocurrency exchangers in Africa. They only believe in Bitcoin. Any offspring of Bitcoin to them has no value, no matter how you try to convince them. I can list some of the famous and trusted exchangers in Nigeria for you, and when you check their websites they don't list BCH. You only see BTC. They are ignorance of the benefits and future potentials of BCH, hence they are illiterates. Merging BCH with Mobile money operators cannot work, as they are regulated by governments whose constituents are chronic antagonists of cryptocurrency. You will see that exchangers are the key players who can really promote the mass adoptions of BCH in Africa, as one thing is to acquire BCH another thing is to get it exchanged to local currency for utilization. Thanks.

@Olad, i really appreciate your contribution to this article. Merging Bitcoin cash with mobile money operators cannot work because they are being regulated by government as you said. But when Africa governments make regulations supporting the use of Crypto currencies such merging will be seamless

Yes, you are right. Once the African governments support cryptocurrency by enabling favorable laws, things will get better. Thanks.

Your article is great to show enthusiasm about BCH on Africa and I am really supporter of it, I have been supporting Bitcoin Cash knowledge on almost all my neighborhood and closely friends and I still facing huge difficulties to communicate and transmit the really benefits of BCH, you see Africans are Bitcoin Maximalists and when I talk about BCH it seems like am talking about a language that they don't understant, other thing is building BCH houses around Africa that could help in diffusion, adoption and usecase of Bitcoin cash but those houses must be created for people who really believe on the project have funds to help them spread the word and do that almost full or part time job but are serious one!

That's why this kind of publication is necessary to trigger the forces that be in crypto currencies to do the needful by creating awareness where necessary for people to have access to the money, And also putting the necessary infrastructures to aid its useability

It might be a dumb question but who exactly can take care of that? The government, banks or?

Individual business men and merchants invest in crypto currencies as exchangers provide these infrastructures such as crypto ATM machine for people to easily withdraw their Crypto money. But the problem with this is that government don't usually support it
