Ode to the Rain

So it's a 'hump day' as Ms. Bloghound often refers to Wednesdays, and here I am yet again wishing and hoping that everyone of you is coping nicely with these 'thick or thin' days.

Today marks the 18th day of straight rain coupled with gusts and winds from time to time here in my side of town. Fortunately, other places elsewhere have fabulous weather - I just imagined sunny and warm days... one I so yearn for these days.

These weather disturbances brought my mind back to 2018 when we have had almost two months of continuous rain due to "Habagat" or Southwest Monsoon and then followed by typhoons too that wreaked havoc to many properties and roads nearby. Even Burnham Lake, one of the City's attractions was deep in waters then.

Anyway, I was inspired by @Bloghound's poem yesterday that I thought I might try to work with my brainy box as Tito Ed teased me so.

This is my first attempt at rhymes so please bear with it. They're just my musings to the rain.

Rain, rain would ya please just walk away?
My farms, my trees, my plants all weary.
Soil drenched, yard smell foul soaking wet;
Branches broken all hurt but can they fret?

Pepper buds turned all brown and fallen,
Blown away by thy friend the wind.
Where could they be this time of day?
I reckon gusts shooed them far away.

You had us jailed in our lil kingdom,
To travel somewhere, I'm quite frightened.
Landslides, flooding just came abound;
Mother Earth is wailing loud.

My soul is weeping, goods been destroyed,
Where shall they get the nations food?
Families so sad somewhere downtown;
Homes flooded brought unspeakable gloom.

You may come again on time another;
You have had your days but not any longer.
Let mighty sun come for a breather
My feet freezin they need a warmer.

The sun shall come one day soon,
You will give way too, I know you would.
Go some place else where sun hath long shone,
Quench their thirst, they would feel so good.

I bow to Heaven for our safer abode
Though winds blow and hard rain poured.
Grounds unshaken, our roofs are good,
My heart is warm, so much gratitude.

**Had to bring the rhymes out of the black box (Thanks to my angel, Ms. Jane for the heads up, said the bot may not recognize the words when placed in the black box as above). So here it is out :)

  • Rain, rain would ya please just walk away?

    My farms, my trees, my plants all weary.

    Soil drenched, yard smell foul soaking wet;

    Branches broken all hurt but can they fret?

  •  Pepper buds turned all brown and fallen,

    Blown away by thy friend the wind.

    Where could they be this time of day?

    I reckon gusts shooed them far away.

  • You had us jailed in our lil kingdom,

    To travel somewhere, I'm quite frightened.

    Landslides, flooding just came abound;

    Mother Earth is wailing loud.

  •  My soul is weeping, goods been destroyed,

    Where shall they get the nation's food?

    Families so sad somewhere downtown;

    Homes flooded brought unspeakable gloom.

  • You may come again on time another;

    You have had your days but not any longer.

    Let mighty sun come for a breather

    My feet freezin' they need a warmer.

  •  The sun shall come one day soon,

    You will give way too, I know you would.

    Go some place else where sun hath long shone,

    Quench their thirst, they would feel so good.

  • I bow to Heaven for our safer abode

    Though winds blow and hard rain poured.

    Grounds unshaken, our roofs are good,

    My heart is warm, so much gratitude.

Ayee!!! Yes, I did it! Lol!

I was quite sure I won't be able to get an article written today because the power went off just when we were about to be done with lunch and my phone battery was down to 20% then. And on windy days like today, the transformers automatically shut down to prevent them from getting damaged and who knows when the wind would stop?

Thankfully, the power came back around 5 pm so I jumped out of bed and created this.

Courtesy of my nephew who thought about getting somewhere else some days ago but had to return to their home because of this.

The above photo is just an instance where roads are closed to traffic due to landslides or even fallen trees. So yes, it's quite dangerous to traverse anywhere else.

And because power was out, I went back to reading the book I have started many a moon ago but never really gotten back to it.

I just read some pages and I felt sleepy so why not give in? Yes, I did and took a nap for some hours while the hubby played poker. Lol! I realized it was quite easy for me to fall asleep during the day these recent, it might be due to the weather too.

"Action cures fear. Indecision, postponement, on the other hand, fertilize fear." - David Schwartz

This was what I had digested so far on that short reading and I can't keep it for myself so I'm sharing it here.

Fear is indeed crippling and only action can take it away. So whenever you are feeling a little hesitant or doubtful about something you wanna do, just remember that you are just feeding something that robs you of the good you desire. Are you just gonna let it?

I will leave you with that... yeah, ponder on...😉

Thank you once again, and be safe, be good, be loving, be fabulous! I love y'all!

Oh my God, rain for continue 18 day and earlier you faced that for 2 months. Rain is very necessary for water level but anything is excess is not good. We hardly get rain in rain season that's why we always welcome rain with heart and celebrate it.

Yes it was not good, landslide almost everywhere and flood too. Most plants destroyed so vegetables and food became quite expensive those days.

Newbie here. Enjoyed your article. I love the rain. But not too much. I was reminded of a quote I read years ago... Along life's path, a little rain must flow. That can mean many things to many people.

Hehe am glad to see Mrs Brainy Box acting up to her reputation! 18 days seems to be a popular number as it is the days I was given left by @Bloghound before I kick the bucket as per my comment to @Eylz2021 .

Anyways love the poem :)

Fear is indeed crippling and only action can take it away

I learned a particular phrase (it resembles this one) in school when I was having difficulty learning and understanding a particular course, and it worked like magic

Here is what it said

When you feed your faith, you will watch your doubts starve to death

It almost the same or the same though.. Everytime I was fearful about a decision, I remember it and it gave me courage
