One of the secrets to successful crops is to research and know the requirements of each plant. It is amazing how something as simple as the amount of light a plant receives can be a determining factor in its development. Earlier this year (February I think) I planted a variety of squash at the base of some recently planted cassava plants. At first it was fine but by the time the cassava plants started to grow, they shaded out the squash plants too much. The result: little growth, fungus propagation, almost no flowering and pollination and the only fruit that grew was very small. Knowing that pumpkins need many hours of sun, I dared to try in a place where they had it and voila! In a short time they have grown beautiful, healthy, big and the first fruits are already showing (I hope). ---------- Uno de los secretos para tener cultivos exitosos es investigar y conocer los requerimientos de cada planta. Es increible como algo tan simple como la cantidad de luz que recibe una planta puede ser un factor determinante en el desarrollo de la misma. A principios de año (febrero creo) sembre una variedad de calabaza al pie de unas plantas de yuca recien sembradas. Al principio estuvo bien pero en el momento en que las plantas de yuca comenzaron a crecer, le dieron demasiada sombra a las plantas de calabaza. El resultado: poco crecimiento, propagacion de hongos, casi nula floracion y polinizacion y el unico fruto que crecio fue muy pequeño. Ya sabiendo que las calabazas necesitan bastantes horas de sol, me atrevi a probar en un lugar donde lo tuvieran y voila! En poco tiempo han crecido hermosas, sanas, grandes y ya se estan viendo los primeros frutos (espero) #MyGarden
