I can't speak for the western world but the Asia is still the same it was years back. Only thing that has changed is internet and the online shopping made access to things. We still have low lifestyle in the small villages and the towns and also hard to get stuff. The moment you cut internet of Asia, we are thrown back 20 years and things are as slow. I wonder if that is the case with the western world too. Or it's just asia that has such world. Does cutting internet keeps you back in the same world? nope neither in Germany nor in Spain you will be in the same century when you cut the internet. hihi and even in america or the UK will happen the same ! It´s because of all our modern services: - Amazon (shopping, delivery, hosting) - banking (online account, ATM for cash, creditcard´s) - ticketing systems (bus, train, flights as well as charging for electric vehicles) - energy systems (distribution, collection, net metering, net stabilization) - payments at the discounter without cash - phone services (chatrooms, apps, supportlines etc.) all that is not working when the internet is down, and then I would fore sure love to be in my little village where the garden is directly in front, the bakery on the other side of the street, the power is coming from our own solar panels.... ...and the internet should be a completely decentralized infrastructure so that when somewhere one hub is failing or down it will be bridged by another one, because without internet in our modern times every Mega-Metropole in the world will went back to the caves and the dinosaurs ;)
