Spending lot of time on Leomarkettalk kind of made me critical to the venture funded blockchains. I am kind of skeptical of VC funded blockchains because they can become the same like what you are hating in the system right now. Most of the blockchains are VC funded funnels sucking up on the user funds. PRE being one such. e.g. check the below image. Not saying you should invest or not, just saying it's not decentralized or "for non-profit" as they are making it out to be. Sounds misleading to be honest. Do your own Research.
