I am not sure if this applies in western world but in asia this is pretty much common. It takes a lot of time and effort for us to cut out of the parents influence. Like we have to work or get married to stop being afraid of parents to do things in life. I remember I used to think what could parents think while trying to get a job in other city. I was so stuck in the mindset that I have to no longer ask for permission to do everything. I wonder how many Asians and similar cultures have experienced this?
