The religion of Peace

The word **Islam means peace** and submission . Muslims greet each other by saying 'Salaam alaykum' meaning '**peace** be upon you'. Like the majority of followers of other faiths, the majority of Muslims believe in seeking a just and **peaceful** world.**Religion**, however, **can** play an important role in **peace**-making and conflict prevention and resolution. **Religion** connects with **peace** in four major ways: The ideas of human dignity and the common humanity of all, derived from the notion that all are created in the image of the Divine, are foundational to true **peace.**Islamist Sayyid Qutb wrote that Islam is the **religion** of **peace** in the sense of submitting all of mankind to Allah.
