Ways to support my mental health Stress, one of the most critical consequences of the modern world, is an integral part of most of our lives... The hustle and bustle of city life, a constant state of busyness, intense tempo, global troubles, difficulties in making a living, illnesses, stress that increases day by day can negatively affect the quality of life by first causing burnout and then mental health problems such as depression. Moreover, it can also bring many physical diseases. So the first step to take is to make the same effort to support our mental health as we make every day to protect our bodies. Because it is almost impossible to live a happy life with an unhealthy mind. The first thing you may think of to protect your mental health is to try to avoid stress, and while this is an important step, it is not enough on its own. More needs to be done to improve mental health. In this article, we have looked in more detail at ways to improve mental health and I have put together some suggestions that you can easily implement in your daily habits as well as stress management.
People who are able to use their time in a more productive and balanced way are not those who can do a lot of work in a short time, but those who can use all hours of a day in the most effective way for work and break times. Therefore, try to use certain times of the day more efficiently by creating routines and planning. When you follow certain routines and, more importantly, discover what your own needs and wants are, you will find that you can use your time much better. On the other hand, you will also realize that living a planned life and sticking to a certain routine is also good for your mind, and that you feel much better when you spend your day in a calmer, more predictable way, because your mind will be much less tired as it follows the steps it is used to. In addition to meeting your physical needs, include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and tuna in your meals to support your brain health and make your mind much stronger. A healthy and balanced diet will improve your focusing skills, memory and make you feel much better. On the other hand, try as much as possible to avoid substances such as alcohol and cigarettes, which can negatively affect both your holistic health and your mental well-being in the long run. Most of us try to make up for the time we lose during the day by working or unintentionally spending it for others by sleeping late at night, going to bed late at night and postponing our sleep in order to extend the day a little longer. In these moments, when we fill the void of not being able to live during the day because of our responsibilities, we can do activities that are not in line with our circadian rhythm. While pampering yourself and doing something just for yourself may feel great at first glance, in the long run, doing so at the expense of your night's sleep can negatively affect your metabolism and lead to chronic fatigue, jeopardizing your mental health.
By going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day and getting at least 6-7 hours of sleep a day, you can not only relieve your physical fatigue but also rest your mind and support your mental health. If you think that physical activity is only important for your physical health, you are wrong. Many studies show that regular daily movement improves cognitive skills, supports brain health and reduces the risk of stress, anxiety and depression. On the other hand, regular exercise, which also supports general well-being, triggers a state of well-being as it increases the secretion of happiness hormones and makes the person feel much better. Stop as soon as you feel your mind getting tired. Every moment of every day we are dealing with something; work, plans, relationships, challenges, stress, innovations, expectations... All of them can tire the mind and a tired mind can lose its health. Afterwards, it can lead to difficulties in focusing, inability to remember, lack of attention, low motivation, and so on.
So don't be unnecessarily hard on yourself about anything and take a break whenever you need it, even if it is a short one. Listen and rest both your body and mind. You can benefit from good living practices such as meditation, mindfulness or breathing exercises.
