There's another big confusion inside financial sector about cryptos energy consumption: block mining is the great consumer of energy, and not transactions. THIS IS NOT True. Block mining is far more energy intensive than transactions, but we have many many transactions. The proof is the huge energy consumption of financial sector: without mining it consumes a lot of energy, because it generates a huge number of transactions.

The issue for me is not so much the power but how it is sourced
We have not infinite sources of power, but the article reports also when it is used: renewable have still an overproduction in some parts of the day and it useful to use it in mining, as a sort of compensation chamber
