First conclusions after a long investigation about desert greening, all experiences and techniques able to transform desert lands in green fields and forests.🏜->🌳 All applied frameworks and theoretical studies underline that desert greening is suitable for depressed areas, because it’s not necessary to pump sea water (it can flow under gravity), saving energy. This is a false problem in my opinion. Pumping water in mountains is the most common way to store energy everywhere in the world. When during night, for example, there’s an overproduction of energy, it is pumped from low basins to highest ones, and when more energy is needed water is released by highest basins to produce hydroelectric energy. If we imagine large photovoltaic fields there’s the same problem: during the day all production is concentrated, and nothing is produced during night. Part of the water could be stored during day and released during night to produce energy, because in many countries the consumption is distributed 24h according to human bahaviours. The problem to solve, now, is how and where to store sea water, without destroying internal lands. This is a big problem, but a solution could be found 🧐
