A beautiful morning to hang on my swing chair π
@EmeraldBitch in June 2022
I put lots of nasty slimy seaweed on most of my plants yesterday, it fertilises the plant and when it dries it gets really hard and sharp, keeping pests off my plants especially slugs and snails π and it even helps keeps weeds down.
I put up some netting around my gooseberries as I had noticed the robins hanging out around it. I'll have to do this to all my berry bushes once fruit appears π«
My roses are close to blossoming, they've been teasing for so long, I can't wait to see what they look like πΉ
My plants have shown a boost already since putting on the seaweed, especially my cherry tomato plants.
My lavender is back and looking very pretty π·
Another beautiful day here in the west of Ireland π
Beautiful yellow flowers on the way to the shop π»
Gooseberries are looking great, I'm glad I put up netting because the birds would love these. I'd say in around a months time we'll have lots of beautifully ripe gooseberries π I can't wait.
Onions I planted winter last year, they look ready to harvest. If the weather allows it we're thinking of having a barbecue next week on my husband's day off, it will be nice to make crispy onions from our own home-grown onions π§
My sunflower really popped after I put on some seaweed, I'm really excited to see how well this does, I hope it grows huge π» and my beans are looking strong, these will be planted with my corn, and they'll hopefully grow up the corn stalks, I did this last year but didn't let my corn get strong enough before planting beans and the beans just didn't grow well, π€ I do better this year π½
My peas have grown crazy, we should have pods very soon, last year we didn't get as many peas as we could have, we left them on the plant too long and let them get too big, this year we have a better idea of when to harvest the pods
This is a pot of dill I planted the other day, all the white stuff is dandelion seeds, it's been crazy lately the amount flying around, almost like it's snowing, now all my plants are covered in the seed's haha I'll have a lot of weeding to do soon π±
My grape plant, I thought it was dead, but clearly I was wrong, and I am super excited about this, although I'm not sure if I'll get grapes this year π
Very exciting, I love strawberries and can't wait to eat my own home-grown ones π
Not long left and I can't wait πΉ it's like the roses are doing a strip tease πΉ
My courgette plants are doing great π₯
I think it is very cool that there are flies who pretend to be wasps so people and other insects might leave them alone, when you look closely you will see they aren't wasp and can't sting you. Nature is amazing.
My beautiful roses πΉ slowly opening.
A cute little snail I found in my greenhouse π
Creepy looking spider πΈοΈπ·οΈ
Today was lovely, but very windy. Lovely pony foals up at the farm π very cute.
The donkeys and llamas at the farm. The donkeys are so friendly they come straight over when they see us, the llamas not as much, they don't leave but they look at us like they want to spit at us π¦
One of my dogs was looking at the ground funny, poking something gently with his paws, when I went to investigate it was a little baby bird, he must of fallen from his nest. I gave him some food and helped him back onto the tree behind our fence, I'm pretty sure that's where he came from, he hopped and climbed up the branches happily so I think I was right. I hope he's alright π€
The beginning of a pumpkin π
My peas look great, the purple flowers are very pretty and we even have a few pods already.
Finally my roses have opened after teasing me for so long πΉ
My chickens love when I let them out to the garden π
Night time rose looks the best, very romantic πΉ
My chickens like to hang out in our seating area π
An outside gym in Spanish Point, a great idea and a lovely view while you exercise πͺπ»
It was a lovely day today, my fourth wedding anniversary and we had a nice family day out β€οΈ The weather was a bit cloudy but in the afternoon the sun was out for a couple of hours β
Lazy pig π she was not interested in entertaining us, she was too comfortable.
A horrible day today, it feels hot but it is very cloudy, gloom and raining π§οΈ
My rose looks it's most beautiful in the rain π§οΈπΉ
The garden has really come alive. I should have a courgette or 2 ready soon and I've the little beginnings of a few pumpkins.
Lots of pea pods on my pea plants today, it won't be long before we start getting peas. Peas freeze really well so they are great for storing for the winter.
The onions I planted in the winter last year are finally ready, my husband's going to make a big jar of crispy onions for the summer, they are lovely with barbecued food π°
Very hot today βοΈπ‘οΈπ₯΅ hard to do anything in the heat when you're 37 weeks pregnant.
Very pretty flowers up at the farm π·
Little pony family π
Twins πΉπΉ
Water droplets on my eucalyptus tree π§
One of my chickens climbed my kids jungle gym and jumped to the top of the swings haha
Dinosaurs π
Chamomile
Our first egg π₯ very exciting π π
Strawberries are so close maybe only a few days for some, it'll be so nice to have our own homegrown fresh strawberries every morning π
My grape plant is doing so good π I can't believe I thought this was dead only a few weeks ago.
Loving my rose bush πΉ
Our first egg was a double egg and tasted so good, I thought it wouldn't be that nice because it was the first egg but it was super tasty, nicest egg I've ever eaten π₯ππ₯
A few strawberries ready, they were so tasty πππ
The newest member of our chicken family π and the last unless we buy another coop. Very pretty bird and seems sweet, has lovely feathers over the feet so kind of looks like they have boots on haha It is a copper black maran, and her name is Bernie.
Poor Bernie hasn't had the best start, the weather has been terribly wet and miserable and the other chickens have been pecking at her a bit. I did a little research and it can take around a month for chickens to get used to eachother and this can involve bullying, Bernie needs to find her place on the pecking order... I just feel so bad for her, it must be scary π
Two little baby caterpillars π
Beautiful flowers my husband bought me as part of a wedding anniversary gift β€οΈ
Flowers look so good in macro shots πΌ
Everything is so much yummier when you grow it yourself, these strawberries are the nicest I've ever eaten πππ
Transplanted my grape plant to its final pot, I'm so pleased with this plant and so excited to get grapes from it π
A little harvest today π
Peggy is a very curious bird, she's also fearless. You have to mind your fingers and toes around her though, she's a pecker π
There is only 1 little patch of dirt in my backyard and the chickens love it there haha they love to roll in it π
The garden is filling up, loads of pea pods and a few little pumpkins too
Everyone with a backgarden or yard should really get some chickens. The eggs are so delicious and the chickens are fun to watch, they are a little smelly but it's actually quick and easy to clean their coop and any poo around the garden and that's coming from someone that hates cleaning. ππ₯π
Poor Bernie still hasn't settled in with the other girls π but I do see some progress.
Gooseberries π
