Hello, Today was a busy day. I don't know, though, if it's a productive one. I just can not say if I did something significant because I can't really give my best because I have canker sores in the walls of my mouth.

So if you don't have any idea what canker sores are, they are those wounds in the insides of the mouth, like in the tongue, back of the tongue, and gums that don't bleed but are painful. In Filipino, we call it "singaw". These also have a lot of names which can be used interchangeably, like mouth ulcers or mouth sores.

So canker sores usually don't have a definite reason why they appear and also don't have specific treatment because these sores just go away after 2 weeks or just days. It's just painful while you're having it.

Although there are no serious specific reasons or conditions associated with this, natural causes can be explained such that mouth sores can develop due to stress in parts of the mouth. As an example, suppose you accidentally injured your gums while brushing your teeth or bit your tongue.

And this is normal, as it is in other parts of our bodies: if you accidentally cut your arm or fingers or got injured, it would be painful. Yet you knew that in just a matter of days, that would heal. You knew that you had to suffer that injury because you tripped or hurt yourself in the first place.

However, given this analogy, you might ask, if wounds in the body are the same as wounds in the insides of the mouth, why do you apply medicine to wounds in the body?

Well, first off, what do you apply for? What's the purpose of this medicine?

If your answer is to heal, No. That doesn't sound right. No amount of medicine or nutrients can heal a wound. It is your body that does all the healing.

The purpose of that drug is either (1) to speed up the recovery of the injury or (2) to keep bacteria and other microbes from growing in your wound.

Why is it possible for microorganisms to grow on wounds and sores?

Yes. Your body alone can host trillions of bacteria. The estimated number is 39 trillion. This is because we have a group of bacteria that are called the "mesophiles," or bacteria that grow at moderate temperatures. The majority of them grow best at 36–37° Celsius, which is the normal body temperature of a human.

Some mesophiles are pathogenic while others are not. Like the lactobacillus in your gut, which helps in breaking down food. That is one of those mesophiles which is helpful.

Anyway, going back It is important that one should take care of the body. When one has sores, another cause that they point out is a lack of several types of Vitamin B, such as Riboflavin, Cobalamin, or Folate. These vitamins are also important as they help in the production of blood and help muscles not weaken.

The lack of these vitamins can be traced to the fact that the body cannot produce most vitamins. The two most common vitamins that the body can produce are Vitamin D and Niacin. Yes, the body cannot produce vitamins K, E, A, and the well-known ascorbic acid, or vitamin C. That is why the advertisements for Enervon and Ceelin are widespread on TV.

Right now, I still have my sores. I gargle high concentration solutions with salt or "Tawas" as the solute. I won't try vinegar as it might irritate the sore even more. I did this to avoid microbes from growing in my sore, as some bacteria cannot survive in unstable or unfavourable environments.

I hope you learn something from here. This shouldn't be my topic for today, but I wrote it anyway. So yeah, there. See ya on the next article.
