I Paid 13,000 Pesos For Taxes and Deductions in 1 Month Last month, €196.35 (about ₱13,000) was deducted from my bruto/gross salary here in the Netherlands. A portion went to wage tax and part to the pension fund scheme. Back home in the Philippines, that amount could already be someone’s full monthly income. Yet too often, the money that hardworking Filipinos pay in taxes ends up in the pockets of corrupt politicians instead of going back to the people. Here in the Netherlands, it feels different. Even though deductions are big, I don’t see them as a loss because I know they’re being put to good use: social services, pensions, healthcare, and systems that actually benefit the people. It makes me appreciate the value of taxes when they’re handled with transparency and accountability. 🇳🇱 💶 Imagine if every peso in the Philippines was treated with the same care. What kind of country would we have today? 🇵🇭✨
