" Higanteng Parol" ( Giant Lantern) Are you aware of Giant Lantern Festival? It's a yearly event held in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. It is held to preserve the lantern tradition not only in Pampanga but for the rest of the country and for Christmas celebration too. It is very famous festival known for its Giants Lanterns display and many local and foreign visitors enjoyed when seeing this lanterns dancing colored lights together with a sound of music. Filipinos always gather for this kind of event, But many Filipinos like me don't know when it was first held, So this is for us to know a little bit of history. Giant Lantern Festival was first held in San Fernando Pampanga on December 26, 1909, It was then cut out when the first world war broke out and it was back again in Barangay San Jose on that same municipality on 1947 and continues till now. Also Giant Lanterns and some smaller lanterns almost travelled around the world. They are displayed on exhibits and some cultural heritage site. Some Giant lantern stands 20 feet with 10 well crafted rotors and consists of almost 10,000 bulbs, and costs 300,000 up to 500,000 php. ctto
