Mercedes-Benz has just opened Factory 56, an investment of around 2.1 billion euros since 2014 to create a future-oriented base for the vehicle production plant and the administrative areas located here. Of this amount, around 730 million euros were invested in Factory 56, which is integrated in the Mercedes-Benz facilities in Sindelfingen. Production at Factory 56 is distinguished by maximum flexibility in the number of models produced, production volume and disposal of materials. New models - from compact to SUVs, including conventional cinematic chains, plug-in and electric hybrids - can be mass-produced in just a few days. Subsequently, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and the EQS, the first fully electric member of the new family of the Classe S, will also be produced on the same line.
Technology and modernity are at the base of this plant. It has a total of more than 400 autonomous vehicles and has the digital ecosystem MO360 as the centerpiece of digitization, which integrates information from the main production processes and IT systems of more than 30 Mercedes-Benz vehicle plants worldwide. In terms of sustainability, Factory 56 operates neutrally in terms of CO2 emissions. All production and monitoring data are accompanied by digital equipment, which saves about 10 tons of paper per year. 30 percent of annual energy needs come from a photovoltaic system. There is also a 1,400 kWh energy storage station. LED lighting, the use of rainwater, the use of recycled cement on the facade were other environmental aspects taken into account. After starting, more than 1500 employees will work in two shifts. The facilities as a whole employ about 35,000 people.

Hyundai has announced that the name of its electric car IONIQ will, from now on, be a brand entirely dedicated to the company's electric vehicles. The term IONIQ, which combines “ion” and “unique”, was used for the first time as a long-term research and development project focused on ecological mobility, and in 2016, the Hyundai IONIQ, the first and only vehicle, originated model in the world offering the option to choose between three different electric motors - hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric - on a single platform. The designation is now reborn as a brand dedicated to EV’s for Hyundai. Thus, three models will be launched in the next three years. The first model under the IONIQ brand will be the medium-sized IONIQ 5 SUV, based on the 45 EV concept, which was unveiled in 2019 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, as a tribute to Hyundai's first concept. In 2022, an IONIQ 6 sports sedan based on Hyundai's latest electric concept, the Prophecy, revealed in March will appear on the market.
In 2023 the IONIQ 7, a large SUV, will be introduced. The signature of pixel lights will be part of this and the remaining IONIQ. The models of the IONIQ brand will take place on a Global Electric Modular Platform, known as E-GMP. The next EV model will have a range of 450 km with only 20 minutes of charging. The platform also allows to reinvent the vehicle interior as "smart living rooms" with highly adjustable seats, wireless connectivity and unique features such as the glove compartment designed as a drawer. The user interfaces will be simple, intuitive and ergonomic. Hyundai Motor Group's goal is to sell 1 million electric vehicles to become the global leader in electric vehicles in the year 2025.
