As we were yet to reap the gains of the year, the world was thrown into serious hardship caused by the covid 19 and this virus attack killed, displaced and rendered a lot of the world populace homeless within a short time.   As a people suffering the same faith, we all rallied around each other in a bid to find a lasting solution and put the world back on its feet again. A lot of efforts were put in place to help combat the outbreak at every corner of the world and yet the negative effect was strongly felt by everyone even those in authority. We managed to walk through it all by keeping hope alive because without being hopeful, the world would have lost the battle.

Every country, state, community and family are making great plans on how best to celebrate this year’s Christmas. A lot of people will be travelling to visit their extended families scattered here and there to celebrate the season, but I’m moved to ask a very pertinent question that seems to have eluded our minds completely. **Do we know what the coming year will bring or are we just being hopeful?**   As a man or woman who has witnessed what covid 19 did, you must not wait for it to happen again before proper plans are put in place as a way of cushioning the effect of any negativity the incoming year may bring. We did not plan for covid 19 to come and yet it happened so why not be on the side of caution in all your spending in this yuletide. Some persons have already started buying a lot of things to celebrate the season with and in all of this some will end up spending more than they have earned in the entire year because they want to enjoy themselves forgetting that another year is coming with its uncertainty. This was the reason why a lot of people went bankruptcy because they felt 2020 was coming with some goodies but we were all shocked at the turn out of the event.   Is there any need to spend more than you have in preparation for a season that will pass within a short period just because you wish to have the best of it?   Most times we allow other peoples way of life to affect us. You are busy buying things and spending above your budget because your neighbour or friend is seen spending and buying things and you forget that you are not earning the same thing. Make a conscious effort to learn from the mistakes of the past and the lessons of 2020 as a year that opened the eyes of everyone to see that the world is not completely free from uncertainty and setbacks.   ****How to avoid overspending.**** ·        The first thing to do as a person who wants to curtail overspending in this season is to know what your worth is, in that way you will understand that you have a line which you must not cross. ·        You must make a conscious list of the things you need and not the things you want because wants are insatiable. ·        After you have listed the things you need, you must try to categorize your list of needs starting with the most important things i.e. your priority list first. ·        Keep it at the back of your mind that the New Year is coming with its uncertainty so that you get ready for whatever the year brings. ·        Most importantly, make a list of what you want to do next year and pick out the most important and pressing ones to save money for it. ·        For a family with children, don’t forget to keep the children’s school fees safe so as not to run into unnecessary hurdles when the time for school fees comes. ·        Finally, make sure to use some part of your savings to take care of yourself by going for medical checkups because health is wealth. Do not allow others to influence you in any way because as humans, we are all on a separate path going to a separate journey. Merry Christmas in advance.    **Lead** **image** https://images.unsplash.com/flagged/photo-1563329528-5006a267aee7?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&ixid=MXwxMjA3fDB8MHxwaG90by1wYWdlfHx8fGVufDB8fHw%3D&auto=format&fit=crop&w=750&q=80
