The Truth Between Patience and Laziness.

You must have heard the English adage which says that a patient dog eats the fattest bone right? Have you ever taken a minute of your time to try and understand what and who a patient dog is? Well, it is up to you to make that great discovery which will lead you to that understanding you seek, but then, we have been told that patience is one the virtues anyone and everyone should always pray to have in their life but there is a great twist to it and that is what I want us to look at in this article. First, I have tried to establish the fact that patience is a virtue but now I will focus on the word which is seen on the other side of patience which we overlook so many times until it takes a better part of us. Just like a coin with two sides, this other side of patience is known as laziness. Yes, you heard me right, it is called laziness.

I am not here to define laziness I am here to open your mind to something which has taken a lot of people off from their path of success in life. The most important thing you must learn from this post is that laziness is real and most times we end up crossing the thin line between it and patience. For the fact that patience is a virtue and a very important part of human life that does not mean that one should now use it as an excuse towards taking steps which will lead him to glory.

To understand it more, I will try to make it clear that the dog used in this context stands for human beings also. Now if we have a dog owner who has more than one dog and he wakes up in the morning to go and drop some bones for the dogs and as soon as he drops the bones one of the dogs still remind where it is as the others rush to get their portion knowing full well that the bone won’t go round, what do you think will be the lot of that dog? The first thing you will notice is that the dog will not be looking healthy like others and it will be hard for it to survive that long without food i.e. if the owner those not come to its rescue either by giving it food separately or by making sure that there is enough bone to go round next time.   Now, let us replace the dog with a human and let us bring the adage into a real-life experience. Have you ever seen a baby who always cries whenever he is among other babies? The baby is always not comfortable when it comes to fighting for attention with other babies, he would prefer to remain in the arms of his mother because he believes that his mother will always fight for him when it comes to getting food. Now, when you look at the kids who prefer to struggle on their own by trying to get things for themselves, you will notice that they will do everything possible to succeed even as they get into the real world. For a better understanding, I will look at this analysis from the view of an athlete. A footballer who trains every day, even when he is yet to be signed by a big club is patiently waiting but not being lazy towards preparing himself for the journey ahead of him.

The thin line between laziness and patience must be carefully threaded upon so that one does not turn himself into a lazy person while seeing himself as being patient. My candid advice to you is; never give yourself reasons not to work hard even while you are patient. Being patient does not mean that you should not work hard rather it means that you should work hard and exercise patience while waiting for your rewards to come. Just as we are told in the church, we pray and exercise patience till our prayers are answered. There is no better way to live a life other than allowing patients to be a greater part of whatever we do. Don’t forget that the thin line between patience and laziness is differentiated by work. Therefore in all you do, let work be your watchword.    Lead image https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1597398230884-35763d59ed15?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&ixid=MXwxMjA3fDB8MHxwaG90by1wYWdlfHx8fGVufDB8fHw%3D&auto=format&fit=crop&w=634&q=80   https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1597398230884-35763d59ed15?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&ixid=MXwxMjA3fDB8MHxwaG90by1wYWdlfHx8fGVufDB8fHw%3D&auto=format&fit=crop&w=634&q=80
