Text: 2 Sam. 22: 11-13
“Mounted on a mighty angelic being, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind. He shrouded himself in darkness, veiling his approach with dense rain clouds. A great brightness shone around him, and burning coals blazed forth.”
The Almighty God flies and He flies high. According to our anchor text, mighty angelic beings forms His carriage (or airplane). Ezek. 1: 4-21 gives us a detailed description of this carriage, it is indeed mighty but we will not go into that detail here.
One of the major advantage of flying is that it gives you speed that cannot be compared to any other means of movement. In other to move, you can either walk, run or fly, and of the three flight is the fastest means of movement. I once had the privilege to go to Abuja from Lagos by road, I left Lagos in the morning but I did not enter the city of Abuja until about 10.00p.m, on the whole it took me over 12 hours to get to Abuja from Lagos by road. Meanwhile if had decided to fly to Abuja from Lagos, it will take me just an hour to arrive at Abuja. The difference is speed. The speed is faster while flying than while driving, even when you are driving at the highest speed possible, the speed is still nowhere near the speed of an airplane. So by flying you gain speed to go far ahead of others who are walking or running and so you can arrive at your destination faster. If you desire to be ahead of the opposition or you desire to arrive at your destination quickly, then you need to fly.
Secondly, you don’t fly on the ground, you fly in the air and that gives you a better view of the happenings on the ground. Because many people are on the plane, they are unable to see exactly what problem is confronting them, they are unable to gain the right perspective for their life, their family or their careers and businesses, when you begin to fly however you are lifted above the ground and that rightly positions you to see better and so you are able to better appraise your situation, which will help you to take the best decision on the way forward. “Though the Lord is on high, Yet He regards the lowly: But the proud He knows from afar” (Psa. 138: 6), it is from heights that the Almighty God looks upon the lowly, so He has a better view of his issues, his oppositions, He sees clearly the dangers that lies ahead of him and so He is able to provide timely help for him, but He sees those who are proud and keeps His distance from them. God will not have reason to keep His distance from you in Jesus name.
As a result of the higher speed that flight provides and also because flying lifts you above the earth and into the heavens, flying is a very effective means of escape from trouble, “And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent” (Rev. 12: 14), by means of flying the woman was able to escape the serpent and relocated to a place of nourishment. This also will be someone’s testimony in Jesus name. By means of flying, God will cause you to escape from the serpent and will relocate you to a place of nourishment in Jesus name. David also had reason to pray this prayer, “My heart is severely pained within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me. So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness” (Psa. 55: 4-7)
Finally, flying makes it easy to pounce on the opposition and gain victory over them in battle. Because in flight you have the advantage of speed, so the attack can be sudden and unexpected, there will be the element of surprise which is an advantage any day in the arena of warfare, “But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them” (Isa. 11: 14).
The Almighty God flies and for as many as those who submits to Him as Lord of their lives, He carries them on His wings and makes them to fly as well, “But those who wait on the Lord ……..shall mount up with wings like eagles” (Isa. 40: 31). Yes if you are a child of God you have been empowered to fly, you ought to be in the air, go beyond just believing that you can fly, and instead appreciate the reality that you can fly. Spread your wings and fly because that is where your victory lies. Shalom.
Prayer Points
1. Father, riding on your wings, I escape from all oppositions, from all problems, please relocate me to my place of nourishment in Jesus name. .
2. Father, by the privilege of flying, I gain speed to go far ahead of every opposition and to achieve my goals for this half of the year quickly in Jesus name
3. Father, by privilege of flying, please sharpen my vision, and open my eyes to everything concerning me that I need to see in Jesus name
4. Father, please keep me under your covering so that I will not be weary especially during this coronavirus pandemic
5. Father, during this coronavirus pandemic when others say, there’s a casting down, I will be flying high above all my problems in Jesus name.
