How Do You Walk?
The call to be a Christian is an invitation to walk with God. As human beings we have various personalities. There are people who derive pleasure keeping to themselves, doing things on their own and have very little interaction with others. That is a terrible way to live and I would not recommend that for anyone. There are others who walk in the company of others, in their daily walk or daily activities, they are very dependent on others, they do not like doing things alone, they interact freely with others and believe that with others they can achieve more. These certainly is a better way to live because God created us to be a community of people, we are wired to be dependent on each other. There is however a more excellent way, there is a third option and that is the option of walking with God. This is the best of all because God actually created us for Himself – He created us to have fellowship with Him, right after the creation of man, we see God visiting the garden of Eden to commune and to fellowship with man. The devil however succeeded in breaking this fellowship when he influenced man in the Garden of Eden to disobey God and since then the world has been living in disobedience to God. Jesus Christ came as the second Adam to right the wrong of the first Adam, and so through His death and resurrection he reconciled us back to God. All those who accept Him as Lord and Savior therefore are brought back into fellowship with God, which is a necessary step that must be taken by all those who seek to walk with God. To walk with God is to walk in the realm of the supernatural because God is supernatural. And in the realm of the supernatural miracles are natural occurrences. To walk with God is to become acquainted with God’s power – God’s power to heal, to transform, to bless and to make possible what the world considers or have concluded to be impossible. Walking with God therefore offers you a glorious life, a happy life, an impactful life, a fulfilling life, a life that no one ever thought was possible. To walk with God however requires faith, when you walk with men, people will tell you to “shine your eyes very well”, because when you walk with men, you walk by sight, you need to see before you can believe what anybody is telling you, with God however, it is the opposite. To walk with God, you must be willing to first believe Him, believe His word, believe His promises and act on them before you can see the physical manifestation of whatever it is you believe Him for. To put it another way, if you are to successfully walk with God, you must develop the capacity to see the invisible. There is something that the devil wants you to see and there is something that God wants you to see, to see rightly is to see what God wants you to see. So when doctors tell you that fibroid is growing inside you, when they diagnose you that the condition of your heart is bad, when they say that you have cancer or whatever unpleasant report anybody brings to you, you do not lose heart. Why? Firstly, because regardless of what may be happening to your outward man, your inward man is fine and it is your inward man that carries and sustains your outward man, secondly, because when you are walking by faith, you do not look to that which is seen, but rather you look to that which is unseen. You train your eyes through the re-conditioning and re-training of your mind to see only what you want it to see. Look at the example of father Abraham in Rom. 4: 16-21, He was about a 100 years old when God promised him that Sarah his wife who was equally very old will have a son. Physically speaking, medically speaking, this is impossible and if Abraham should consider his physical condition and that of his wife, he will not believe it. But what did he do – 1. Though he was old, he refused to accept that his body was dead and could no longer father a child 2. He refused to accept that Sarah’s womb was dead and could no longer carry pregnancy 3. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief 4. He was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God even before the physical manifestation of the promise 5. He was fully convinced that He who made the promise is able to perform what He has said. These is a very practical example of what it means to walk in faith and if you also want to see the manifestation of God’s power you must apply these steps to your own situation and follow them religiously. God has not changed, what He did for father Abraham and others whose testimonies you know, He can do for you and even much more, provided you learn to walk by faith and not by sight. Shalom
