Another tradition during the dark season is to put a candle arch (Schwibbogen) in the window. Originally, they were supposed to light the way home for the miners (ore, no crypto) in the dark. Even though there are few or no miners left in the area today, the arches are still in many windows. I seem to have put mine up a bit early this year and can't see any others yet in the houses around. But never mind, we all need a little more light in our lives.
