Autumn is flu season. And since I once had the pleasant experience of catching a real flu, not a cold, a few years ago, I would like to avoid that in future if possible. So today it was time again for the annual flu vaccination. This time, I didn't even have to leave my workplace and got the shot right there. Now I hope that the side effects will be limited. My arm is getting heavy, but I expected that.

One of the bonuses (I guess) of retirement and not being around other people is not having to give a flu shot much thought. The regular flu vaccination is kinda like a lottery, it doesn't work against all flu strains but only the 3-4 they think will be most prevalent this season. Unless Cat Flu becomes a deadly disease transmitted from felines to humans, I'll just stay home and bypass the vaccine.
People working from home have the same advantage only if they're not forced to get it. Hopefully it won't be mandatory unlike the covid. In the end, just like you said it's kinda like a lottery
I think the chances with a lottery are a bit lower but I also understand if you decide against it. It's just that after my illness a few years ago, I do everything I can not to have that again.
Yeah the lottery example isn't closely accurate for the odds, just good for the concept :)
You are right, it helps against 4 strains. Or at least it should. I've only had good experiences since I got it done but if the risk is low, like yours, I'd think about it too. But since I'm in clinics almost every day for work, I just feel better that way.
I only had a flu shot once. My arm was painful for a few days and I was sick more than usual 😅
Yes, it's not nice and I'm not looking forward to tomorrow either. But because of my work, it's the better option.
I'm with Mike @miklj999 ... The shot is only effective to a certain point.. my mom, dad, twin sister... Almost everyone here takes it ... For now I still dodge it...
I can understand it and I don't think you have a bigger risk. But I have a pretty risky job and I don't want to experience it again. Once was enough.
