My new old carpet. In times of expensive heating energy, it can't hurt to save some of it. And a carpet helps a lot. It's effectively warmer on the feet and the whole room feels warmer. The laptop is already enough for heating. According to the label on the back, it was made in 1984, so it's almost as old as I am. Apparently it once cost 785 GDR marks, a small fortune. I'm glad that we don't throw anything away and that I can now use this little luxury again.

This here house (pats wall) still has the original carpeting and painting from when it was built new in 1970. Of course, it also went through 7 kids growing up, so it all needed replaced 30 years ago. lol
That's what I call sustainable. But why not, if you feel good in it.
Next month will mark the 52nd anniversary of us (the family) moving into this house. Unfortunately it was never properly taken care of and is fairly worthless now - however, new roof went on 5 years ago, and though the foundation is shaky and there are cracks in the walls and weak spots in the floor, it's now mine free-and-clear of any mortgage or back taxes, and I don't require anything special as long as it keeps me dry and warm. Plus things like the marks on the hallway walls where Mom measured my younger brothers and sisters as they grew - little mementos of a lifetime gone past...
That sounds good, like a certain security. You have something ahead of many in your country.

Synthethic. You can read "Dederon" on the label. This is a synthetic fibre that was developed from nylon in the GDR.
Interesting. I was talking to am elderly gentleman from Germany recently. He told me how carpets used to be popular and the dealers were actually making 100%+ pure profit on them and that now it's as popular. But maybe with this winter and energy cost thell be popular again

That is exactly how it is. We had the carpet stored in the garage for a few years and a few days ago I took it into my flat.
I joke but I'm the only one that understands my jokes... I have countess things in my house that I've found near the trash, ppl trow "away" things almost new, I clean it up, some for myself, others up donate to the solidarity group. So if you had found it in a "dump" I would say lucky you 😅
