2021 off to an awful start. The girlfriend has just found out the car she was sold was in an accident and is a total death trap, it has no airbags or seat belt tensioners. And is essentially worthless. There are people willing to let others die to make a quick buck.

If you have the identity of the seller, I believe there is a small change that the police can deal with him, depending on the country.
She doesn't have any way of identifying him. The transaction was cash and he didn't sell from his house. It was mostly her dumbass ex that organised the buy and she doesn't want to ask him if he knows.
