Curious about the fence. what's it for?
Erosion. The cliffs behind are extremely soft and collapse easily. The fences stop the tide from pulling material back into the sea. There's a big problem on the UK coast line of people's houses (that were built hundreds of years ago) getting closer and closer to the cliff edge.
