The idea of the #metaverse or VR world being portrayed in movies is viciously hilarious... I was watching supergirl the other day and there's this sun eater thing about to consume the sun and people are being adviced to turn away from the threat and find comfort in the metaverse. They want you to ignore the real life problems and go live in the metaverse, for how long? Like seriously? I'm not sure how your precious metaverse can exist when the world is destroyed. Oh, I suppose "they" will take care of the real world for you.

I am watching few games and projects which are pretty much going there. The way Facebook is going, probably living in metaverse and making money, doing work in there while machines doing real life work would be probable in 1st world. Not in 2nd and 3rd world. So 1st world people would live in virtual world maybe like controllers or prisoners of this metaverse, depends on context. Asia, africa and south america is too crowded and too much drama to live real life to even bother with virtual world.
