"Our Beloved Summer" is one of the k-drama that became a huge hit last 2021. To know more about it, feel free to read the article that I published about it.
To give a glimpse to those who has no idea about it though, here's the trailer that you can watch...
But for now, let me talk about...
What I Learned from "Our Beloved Summer"?
1. Being a top student doesn't guarantee success in the future.
The female protagonist here name Kook Yeon-soo is a top student when they were in highschool. On the other hand, the male protagonist, Choi Ung, is on the last rank.
It is most of the time expected that the smartest one will have a successful career in the future, while the one who's on the last rank won't have one.
But years has passed after high school, Choi Ung became a well-known illustrator and is considered to be more successful than Kook Yeon-soo.
In reality, things like this really happened. I have always believed that mas lamang ang madiskarteng tao, kesa sa matalino lang. Resourceful person > Smart one.
Don't get me wrong though, I am not against smart people. It's that just sometimes, resourceful people get into a better situation because of their resourcefulness.
2. Lower your pride.
In this kdrama, Kook Yeon-soo and her grandma has the same personality of not lowering their pride. Yeon-soo has also a hard time apologizing. Because of that, things mostly don't go well with their relationship toward their partner, friends, and other people.
3. Don't do something that you'll regret afterward. Think twice or thrice if necessary.
Kook Yeon-soo did something that she regret afterwards. That's why, in every situation, I suggest that we should always think twice or thrice. Especially if it's a big thing.
4. ART HAS VALUE!
Last but not the least, art has value. In the Philippines where I am from, most of the people underestimate the art. What they only see is that it's just a drawing drawing lang or whatsoever. Some do degrade it and don't give much importance.
There are some instances when they want an art commission from the artist and they see the rate are so high, and so they haggle for the price.
Whereas in other countries, I guess especially in first-world, they give such importance to art.
Well, in "One Beloved Summer", it showed the life of Choi Ung, an illustrator, who get paid with a nice rate with his every artworks.
Closing Thoughts
That's the 4 things so far that I learned from watching "Our Beloved Summer".
It is indeed a nice kdrama so I highly recommend it to everyone. And I hope that you will also learn a thing or two from there. ✨
