What I Learned from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a famous film from 2005. It is about a poor young boy named Charlie who is lucky enough to be one of the winners to have a tour in the most magnificent and most enormous chocolate factory in history, led by the most unusual candy maker named "Willie Wonka".

Afternoon of January 12, me and my 4 year-old nephew decided to watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" on Netflix. I am aware that this is a child-friendly movie and while watching it, I realized that there are lessons where children can takeaways.

Here are they...

1. Gluttony is never a good thing.

Gluttony means excessive consumptions of foods and drinks.

The first kid who won the golden ticket is the gluttonous Augustus Gloop. He is also the first one who got into an incident inside the chocolate factory because he didn't listen to what other people are telling him what to do. Instead, he just keeps on eating chocolates that he see everywhere.

Too much desire on foods or wealth or anything is just not a good characteristic to have. Not only it can lead someone to incidents, but it can also lead to illnesses or diseases such as obesity.

2. Do not spoil a child.

I think the second kid who got the golden ticket is the spoiled brat Veruca Salt. Well technically, she's not the one who really got it. It's because of her rich dad who would do all the favor that her daughter asks her to do.

Veruca Salt wanted to get what she wants and she thinks she really can get everything. In my opinion, it is the parents' fault why she's like that. Because of her being a spoiled brat, she got into an incident too which is her fault to begin with.

3. Do not be arrogant or be a know-it-all type of person.

The third kid who I think got the third golden ticket is the arrogant Violet Beauregarde. She has won so many awards because of martial arts and she also won something like a Guinness World Record where she had the longest period of time chewing a gum inside her mouth. She thinks that she's very good at everything and she knows everything. Basically, she's full of herself. Because of that attitude of herself, she got herself into trouble inside the chocolate factory because she thinks she knows what she's doing and therefore didn't listen to Mr. Willy Wonka.

Disclaimer: I may have interchanged the order of Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde. As far as I know, they are either second or third who got the golden ticket and got into trouble in the chocolate factory.

4. Learn to control your emotions.

The last kid who got the golden ticket is the ill-tempered Mike Teavee. He is a boy who's addicted in playing video games and has a problem with his temper to the point that his parents can't control him at times. Because of this bad characterictic of him, same with other three kids, who also got into trouble while on a tour inside the chocolate of factory.

5. Obey the rules and learn to listen.

In numbers 1 to 4, we have learned something from the bad attitudes or characteristics that the four kids have. Because of those, they got themselves into trouble. It is not the fault of children alone because the parents are partly to blame.

While on the tour at the enormous chocolate factory of Willie Wonka, the only kid remaining is Charlie Bucket. It is because he knows how to listen to the elderlies he's with, Willy Wonka and his grandfather. He also obey the rules and isn't naught unlike other kids. Because of the good qualities that he has, he didn't get himself into any trouble all throughout the tour.

6. Family is important than success or wealth.

At the last part of the film, Willy Wonka decided that whoever is the remaining kid of the tour around his chocolate factory, will be the heir of it. It is because Willy Wonka thinks he's getting old. And so, Charlie Bucket will be the heir.

But Charlie didn't agree to be the heir of the giant chocolate factory because that means he will be leaving his family and only Charlie will be in going to the chocolate factory, as it is the terms and condition of Willy Wonka.

The last part tells that the family is far more important than being the successor of a large company and the wealth.

This film is an old one but still golden. It is a timeless family movie filled with learnings and entertainment.

I have watched this many times for sure but still a 10/10 rate for me.

While watching the movie, I kept on saying to my nephew that "look, that's why you shouldn't be naughty because you'll get in trouble" (in our dialect). Hahaha.

That's all for now. Thank you for reading and until the next blog! ✨

Kung bakit s'ya naging ganun and such.

True! Yes si Augustus yun.

Agree! Malungkot yung life ni Willy and magisa lang sya most of the time, pero in the end naging part sya ng Bucket family. <3

Yes, maree. Lalo na 'nung nagsisimula pa lang s'ya sa career n'ya. Pero in the end, naging masaya pa din s'ya dahil kay Charlie and his family. ✨

This movie is the exact presentation of old but gold. I've watched this and I must agree to everything you have just stated above sis. About dun sa spoiled brat chuchu, ang laking factor ng parents nu. Di talaga pwedeng pinagbibigyan sa lahat ng gusto yung bata, lumalaki ulo.

It's cool when you find a movie that you can watch over and over again and still feel the same way about it, or as you're watching it. It's especially cool if you pick up life lessons from them. For now, I think there are two movies that make me feel that way: "Forest Gump" (Tom Hanks) and "The Blind Side" (Sandra Bullock).

One of my childhood movies! I think the children are based on the 7 deadly sins. They have a good representation of each sins. Also, this movie will teach kids not to be bad or else you will turn into violet. haha!

I think the children are based on the 7 deadly sins.

That's what I also thought of. Wala lang yung iba likes sin of sexual pleasure, etc. Siguro kasi di na yung iba pang family-friendly or pang kids.
