Hello, awesome Read.cashers. In this part of the world, it's still Wednesday. And today, I have some rambling thoughts to share.
I started writing this article this morning sitting in a small garden outside the dental office where I had an appointment, while the dentist was attending my husband. In these times of pandemic, it isn't allowed to wait inside the office. So it seemed like a good place to write some notes that ended up becoming my article for today.
Do you know what is bruxism?
Today my dental appointment wasn't due to any toothache thank goodness. However, my poor husband needs root canal treatment. The reason for my appointment is that I need a dental splint because I have bruxism.
Bruxism is a condition that causes us to unconsciously grind or gnash our teeth. It can be caused by anxiety or stress but also by an irregular way of biting. Teeth grinding can occur day or night. And the effect is the wear of the teeth that can cause fractures. I have always had a tendency to grind my teeth, especially while sleeping. And in the past, I have had the odd little fracture of some teeth. A few weeks ago, I had a slightly large one, but in the end, the dentist was able to save my tooth and recommended that I have a dental splint to protect my teeth while I sleep.
There are people whose bruxism is so severe that they suffer from jaw and headaches. It isn't my case, but I want to protect my teeth and my pocket. Because I don't want my BCH to end up all in the hands of the dentist every time a tooth cracks or fractures. So that was the reason for my appointment at the dentist today.
Acerola, do you know it?
While I was sitting in the garden waiting for my turn, I took some photos of flowers. But what most caught my attention was a little bush with fruits. Earlier today, in Noise, I posted the header photo of this article, asking if anyone knew the name of the fruit. When I first saw it, I thought it was nectarine. But Google Lens told me it was an Amazon fruit called camu-camu. Both assumptions were wrong, and a Noise user gave me the right information. Turns out the fruit is Acerola.
From what I could read, Acerola is a fruit that is grown in Central and South America. Especially in tropical climates. It's very rich in vitamin C. It contains much more than lemon and orange. And it's a bit acrid in taste. I've never tried it, but I did know that I had heard it named.
So I told my husband if he knew it, and he said yes. Then I remembered where I had heard about acerola. In Brazil, it is produced in large quantities, and acerola juice is well known. My husband told me some years ago an anecdote about a work trip he had to make to Brazil. At lunchtime, he and his colleagues went to the hotel cafe where they were staying. And the waiter recommended them to try the acerola juice. Everyone ordered it except my husband who ordered a Coke. All his colleagues had to leave the cafe before finishing eating, wanting to go to the bathroom. My husband was left alone in the cafeteria, hehe. Despite that, I would love to try it because from what I have read, it has many beneficial properties for health. But just in case, I'll make sure to try it the first time at my house, hehe. ;)

Speaking of something else, yesterday I tried the wagon.cash application to make the bridge of my BCH with SmartBCH. It was very good. The operation was almost instantaneous and with a fee of 0.1%. A great alternative to Coinflex when depositing our BCH in SmartBCH. It's faster and for those of us who live in territories that Coinflex doesn't cover, it avoids us the hassle of having to take some detours and shortcuts.

I know about bruxism because I also suffer from it, just a year ago I was diagnosed after spending a whole year at the dentist for various reasons.
Since I was young I have been to the dentist more than any other specialist, I would say that in 20 years I have not spent even 6 months absent from this doctor. Last year was the worst of all, my main tooth broke and it was not decayed, I went through 11 reconstructions and 3 dentists until I finally got to where I am currently being treated, after fixing that tooth I went through a disaster of abscesses and other tooth fractures.
They placed a crown to save a tooth, and in 6 months I had to repair the crown again, in conclusion bruxism has done its thing, and in the last years I have spent only in my dental care 1200 dollars and my emotional state has been affected as well as my smile.
