I remember thinking that if I could stick for longer, if I could love a little more, maybe she'll realize that I was something that she couldn't let go. Maybe, she'll finally choose to value my love. And then there are times when we are guilty. When we tell ourselves that it's selfish of us to leave a relationship, to discard something that we once treasured the most. We do not care if we have grown, or changed. We know that we have to stay." "And then there are those, Joely, the ones who we decide to fix. We see their raptured souls, and we are determined that only our love and our care can stop them from ruining their lives. We choose to never give up on those who we have found beauty within. We take all the burden of the world just to make someone else happy." "And then there are times when we do not leave because we know that we do not have a choice. We are alone, and rather than listening to the silence within us every night, we would choose to listen arguments, so that we never have to realize how lonely we are. We settle for the ones who do not deserve us. We believe that love is terrifying and hurting, at times. We watch movies and tell ourselves that all of that is a fallacy. The point is, Clem, that we stay for so many reasons that we shouldn't stay for. It’s okay to hurt sometimes, but if the only thing that love has to offer is pain, then it isn't worth it. It's the greatest injustice that we can force ourselves to go through. Each one of us deserves love, even if we are immensely flawed. You see, if you become too comfortable to live with a kind of hurting, then you will never find a way to leave it and value yourself. You cannot romanticize heartbreak, my dear. That's the greatest disservice that you would impart on your heart. You have to learn to choose yourself when no one is choosing you. You have to learn to love yourself when nobody else loves you, and even if it's hurts to self-love, it's the only way to become someone that you deserve.
