Eyes are for seeing

Everybody has eyes and looks around their environment all the time but what each individual sees Is different from what every other person sees. What you see each time you look goes a long way to determine what you are made up of and how dar you can go in life

We are going to cite three different examples of three great men who became great by seeing things differently from the way others saw them. These men were *nobodies", they were never recognized until they took the bull by the horn by seeing beyond what others saw.

1. David:

David was a young man, the last born in his family who was saddled with the responsibility of tending domestic animals, he couldn't have been given any other "dignified" duty to do because he was believed to be the least among his brothers therefore he was given the least and "undignified" task meant for the young and weakling.

He was just a shepherd

Tending domestic animals in those days was the least task a young man can do, even the ladies and little children could do it, it was like sending someone to wash a cup or to go down the street and buy something, it didn't require extraordinary skills; even if it did, everybody knew the skills because animal rearing was very common and popular so everybody knew it.

The war

So there came a time that war broke out between the Israelites, David's people, and the Philistines, the Philistines massacred the Israelites in their numbers, they were no match for the philistines especially the man called Goliath, a philistine giant. Goliath boasted that no one could defeat him and everybody was scared of him, no one dared to even move close to him including king Saul who was the leader of the Israeli army at the time

He saw things differently

Every other person saw a giant who could easily kill anyone that came close to him, a strong man but David saw an uncircumcised Philistine, "a mugu" who knew not God. Other people saw a strong giant who can kill hundreds of people at the same time but David saw a huge target, big enough not to miss.

Empty threats

To make matters worse, Goliath threatened to kill David and feed his flesh to the birds of the air, the Israelites got scared for David but the threat fuelled his passion and anger, the rest is history. David humiliated the almighty giant Goliath by killing him like a bird with a stone, everyone was astonished, even the philistine army took to their heels

2. Nehemiah:

Nehemiah in so many ways described with his life that one has to be stubborn and blind to many things if they want to ever make it in life.

Nehemiah was one of the Israelites that found themselves in an unfortunate situation, living as spaces in their own land with the walls of Jerusalem in ruins. Even though Nehemiah was living fine in the kings court, he knew that there is more to life than just "living large", he needed to live out His purpose in life, so while other people saw him as a fulfilled man he saw himself as an incomplete man who needed to fulfil his purpose in life.

A heart for others

As a cup bearer in the king's court, he could have relaxed and enjoyed his life while Jerusalem's walls laid in ruins, after all he wasn't affected in any way but he knew that his welfare is useless if his people are not as progressive and protected as he was, he had a heart for his people.

Seeing beyond ruined walls

An average person could have turned blind eyes to the plight of his people and continued enjoying all the benefits and affluence in the king's palace. The people saw ruins, decadence and a collapsed Jerusalem wall.

But when Nehemiah looked at the same wall he saw a mended and reinforced giant wall, he saw mortar, he saw labourers who were willing to build up the walls, he saw water, sand and every other thing needed to build the ruined walls of Jerusalem

He had all those visions within him and needed to also show them to the people he wanted to work with. Nehemiah was able to gather men and women of like minds and visions who helped build up the walls, before long Jerusalem ice again, became one of the greatest cities in the world, the city of God revered by many.

3. You

I said I was going to mention three people in the beginning of this article. I've mentioned the first and the second, the third person is none other but you because the entire article is all because of you, centered around you

The way you look at things matters a lot and the earlier you start seeing more of the positive side of things and see less negative side the better for you.

The temptation

There's always a temptation to see things the way the rest of the people see them. People's mind always go to negative before they even start considering the positive, this is a wrong approach to things but unfortunately, it's the conventional way

You have to learn to be different and see things differently from the rest of the people. It might look weird or awkward but its not. Be yourself, be unique.

A winner

Its okay to be different, its okay to see a different thing from what other people see. That's what makes you a winner, what makes you a winner is your ability to see the end from the beginning; when other people are thinking about the many obstacles in the way, you are already seeing the finish line, that's the attitude of a winner

You are not everybody else, you are you. The great man
