I'm allergic to shrimp and it was triggered when I was in first year college and my immune system became weak. The effect is not abrupt (it takes 5-6hrs before it affects me) but I can say it's severe. Slowly, I developed rashes (pantal pantal talaga) then my head feels so heavy and itchy then I experienced difficulty of breathing. I felt dizzy but good thing I was given first aid and it is effective (I ate sugar). From then on I never ate shrimp or even bagoong because when I ate bagoong some days after that I experienced mild effect too. Some people say that they fought their allergies by building tolerance against it. They try eating little by little and eventually become immune with it. But, it's not the case for me. I tried eating again now but it slowly affect me and the symptoms start to show after an hour, my ear becomes itchy and head feels a little bit heavy so I drink my antiallergy medicine before it worsen. That's why the doctor always tell me to carry my meds around because shrimp is a food that's usually mix with other food and if unexpected events happen at least I have my meds with me. Just sharing how it's hard having such allergies :(( given that I have allergic reaction not just to one but several but major ones are shrimps and cold temperature ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ⊂(•‿•⊂ )*.✧ hugs to all those people who are struggling with their health.
