Abandoned Sanctuary
Roars of thunder Root like veins of lightning Mourning clouds Evil rain kissing the Earth Yelling of dead trees reviving the souls Humanity seeking for the scent of the Earth Turning off the lights of one's home Embracing darkness, letting coldness to crawl on the four corners of their comfort zone Crying candles on the dining table Creamy mushroom soup, chicken adobo Steamed sweet potato tops with fish sauce and sliced tomatoes Grilled pork, fish, and eggplant Glasses of wine for the aged Cups of dark chocolate for the young Fresh fruits, slices of cake Mouth-watering food on the table but no one is there. A place like home has turned into an abandoned structure Leaving sweet laughter and smiles Letting go of happiness, of tranquility, of love. As they closed the door, drops of tears and blood came out and cleansed the door knob Resembling their broken hearts, tortured and dying Because nerves connecting their minds and hearts were once killed.
