Today, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the faithful mark a holiday dedicated to the Venerable Martyr Paraskeva, popularly known as Petka Trnova. Saint Petka Trnova was born in Rome into a Christian family. After the death of her parents, she became a monk, but before going to the monastery, she distributed all her wealth to the poor.
