( se realiza el Quinto domingo anterior a la Navidad). ¿Qué es la solemnidad de Jesucristo, Rey del Universo? La Solemnidad de Jesucristo, Rey del Universo también conocida como la Solemnidad de Cristo Rey, es una celebración litúrgica en grado de solemnidad de la Iglesia Católica. Se celebra el último domingo del año litúrgico, de acuerdo al rito romano. Por esta razón la fecha de celebración varía entre los días 20 y 26 de noviembre. Esta festividad religiosa celebra a Cristo como el Rey bondadoso y sencillo, considerado el guía de la Iglesia peregrina hacia el Reino Celestial de Dios. Al establecer su Reino, Jesús dejó la misión a la Iglesia de transformar el mundo en el amor, fortalecido con la oración de los fieles y la gracia recibida por medio de los sacramentos. Desde tiempos inmemoriales se ha denominado a Jesucristo como Rey, debido al grado supremo de excelencia que lo caracteriza, entre todas las cosas creadas en el mundo. El título y la voluntad de Rey le ha sido otorgada por Dios, de acuerdo a lo reflejado en los pasajes de las Sagradas Escrituras y del Nuevo Testamento, plasmados en la Biblia. Origen e historia de esta celebración litúrgica La celebración de La Solemnidad de Jesucristo, Rey del Universo, denominada originalmente como Fiesta de Cristo Rey, fue establecida por el papa Pío XI el día 11 de diciembre de 1925, plasmada en su encíclica Quas Primas. Tiene una duración de un año jubilar ordinario, en el marco del XVI centenario del I Concilio Ecuménico de Nicea. Este Concilio proclamó el dogma de la consubstancialidad del Hijo Unigénito con el Padre, convirtiéndolo en el Símbolo o "Credo Apostólico", promulgando de esta manera la real dignidad de Cristo. Posteriormente, en el Concilio Vaticano II y la reforma litúrgica establecida por Pablo VI en el año 1969, esta celebración litúrgica cambió de nombre y de significado, denominándose Solemnidad de Jesucristo, Rey del Universo, celebrándose el último domingo del Año Litúrgico.
