•Report Claims FBI Uses Bitcoin Mixers During BTC Forfeiture Process• Over the past eight years, a large number of bitcoins have been seized by US law enforcement agencies, and at one point the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had one of the largest bitcoin wallets after the demolition of Silk Road. A recently published report shows that the FBI has started using cryptocurrency mixing apps of late to obfuscate seized bitcoin transactions that stem from a seizure. (A cryptocurrency mixer or cryptocurrency mixing service is a service offered to mix certain amounts of potentially identifiable or contaminated cryptocurrencies with cryptocurrencies of a different origin, with the aim of making it difficult to trace the funds to know their real origin.)
