I suffer from dizziness if I stand up too fast. Normally, I take my time getting out of the car before going in to pick up a delivery. This last weekend, I skipped the wait and see and just marched into the restaurant for a pick up. Now normally I walk in and if I’m feeling off, there is a sturdy wall I can hang on to while I turn the corner. Friday night, place is packed and I missed grabbing the wall so I came around the corner. Next thing I know, three of the biggest guys from the kitchen have me in a bear hug and are lifting me off the floor. I passed out right there for all to see. I believe I put a show on while gravity kicked in because the two tables closest to where I fell were surrounded by waitstaff righting a table, lots of broken glass being swept up and evil looks from one of my victim tables. Long story short, after I felt well enough to walk again, my wife said Emergency Room. This goes against the male ethic (or stupidity) but I tried unsuccessfully to convince my wife we should just go home. Three days now in the hospital and I think the doctors and nurses see my dizziness as a puzzle to be solved And won’t let me leave until their curiosity is satisfied. While trapped in the hospital bed, my wife, daughters and I treated the hospital bed the same as the car when we are doing deliveries. All crowded onto a twin bed but Our soundtrack playing quietly, tons of laughing and reminiscing, and a normally boring, sometimes scary experience turned into a private party (probably to the annoyance of my hospital roommate). P.S. getting iodine during a CT or MRI is a trip. It goes in nice and cold, but then it works it’s way from the throat down to the groin. Once there, warmth just spreads out feeling just like you peed a gallon in your pants. Not a fan, but if they find something out of the ordinary, it’ll be worth it.
