El Cabrerito de la Ciénaga (Torreornis inexpectata) has only three populations: in the Ciénaga de Zapata, in Baitiquirí in Guantánamo, and Cayo Coco in Ciego de Ávila. It is the third species discovered by the ornithologist Fermín Zanón Cervera in the Ciénaga de Zapata, in addition to the Fermina and the Gallinuela de Santo Tomás. His family, according to specialists, is the most recent on Earth. It is strong, about 17 cm, with disproportionately small wings. During the winter months it can be located in small groups looking for food, they are most active in the early morning and in the afternoon. Its song is not known, the sound it emits is a "slip" similar to other birds in the region.
