Further to the Fake Nano stories on reddit and being picked up by other crypto outlets I decided to dig a bit deeper after reading a Forbes article about reddit post, where it said the Fake Ledger was a gift from a friend. Curious how the scammers knew his address when it would his friend address that was hacked not his. ....eventually ended up @ Ledger phishing blog where they describe in detail the fake nano, packaging etc. The fake nano is just a USB stick with a bogus ledger live app which they want you to load on computer. Then add your 24 word recovery phrase. Note: -Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase -only download Ledger Live from ledger site -the recovery phrase sheet does not come pre-filled, when you initiate a real untampered Nano it gives you the phrase. You write it down and store securely in multiple places. Then it will ask for the phrase to verify. Pays not to accept headlines at face value and to DYOR. Surprising what you will find. The blog lists all the different phishing attempts, looks like there is one a month. So are more creative than others
