Show Synopsis and Highlights

*This is a write-up of our monthly Crypto News episode, link down below

The Halving

First, we briefly discussed the BTC halving. Was it priced in? Was it not priced in? Can it even be priced in?

My personal take on it was that it's a nice little anniversary like Bitcoin Pizza Day. Beyond that, it doesn't hold that much gravitas for me. I think if I was a Crypto miner or Bitmain, I'd be paying a lot more attention to it.

ObamaGate...too big to jail?

Since #obamagate was trending when we recorded this episode, we figured we've dive down this rabbit hole. To be brief, it's been confirmed that the Obama administration was spying on the Trump campaign in order to try to sabotage them. How the normies aren't up in arms about this is beyond me. Biden was in the former administration too so he's tied up in this as well. Get your popcorn ready for the Presidential debates.

The RussiaGate hoax was a diversion. After Trump won, it seems like a lot of guilty people panicked and came up with this. I guess the best defense is a good offense. It seems like they accused the Trump side of actually doing what they were doing, unreal.

Josh mentioned HRC's crimes, including running a server out of her house which is technically illegal. He also mentioned that Trump managed to win while spending half as much and not having the political credentials. We talk some about the ideas expressed in Win Bigly by Scott Adams and why so many people aren't seeing the full picture.

"Trump is the master of media manipulation" -Josh Igoe

We talked about the mental gymnastics of thinking Trump is a "moron" while also being a super-genius Russian double agent who got away with it. We talk in general about some people being "too big to jail" in the same way some companies in the US are now "too big to fail" and the inherent problems with these issues.

We tie this into the Epstein fiasco and talk about Bill Gates frequent trips to Epstein Island to work on "Microsoft projects" and his refusal to answer a recent question posed to him.

ETH 2.0 Still on Track?

We discuss some things in the roadmap including reducing latency and scaling throughput to 1,000 transactions/second. We talk about some of the competitors and why we think it's important that the upgrade is successful. In particular, we talk about all the money and projects tied up in the DeFi space that are built in the ETH ecosystem. It'd really be a big temporary blow to the Crypto space and DeFi space in particular if things go bad with Ethereum.

We also talk about Vitalik's appearance on the latest episode of BTC and Friends. Josh also shares a humorous story about Vitalik running out of a conference.

YouTube cancels Cointelegraph

We talked about Youtube taking down their Bitcoin Halving Livestream despite it not breaking any rules as far as we could see. Youtube has a history of banning Crypto content. We then talk about how their censorship isn't related just to crypto but includes political content and even doctors questioning COVID lock down practices.

We talk about how we personally see three times the views on Bitchute vs. Youtube and why we have issues with that. We discuss how Youtube can be a publisher or a free speech platform...but it can't be both. I mentioned Youtube was running at a loss and Josh was doubtful. Apparently, he was right. I must have been recalling something I read years ago.

Cambridge University releases Crypto Mining Tracker

We talked about this interesting tool. It tracks mining by country and even regions within a country. They managed to do this even though many Crypto mining companies use VPNs. Josh expressed concern about the amount of mining happening in China and the possible fallout.

Crypto Investing

We talk about Paul Tudor Jones having 1% invested in BTC. Josh makes a BTC price prediction of $18,000 for mid June of 2020. Will he be right?

We discuss Max Keiser saying Warren Buffet killed his reputation with his stance towards Bitcoin. I talk a little shit about Warren. Josh retorts that he's the wealthiest investor that's ever lived and he's never really been into the tech sector, let alone the Crypto sector. That's fair, but he also did lose $50 billion dollars in Q1.

BTC as a Store-of-Value?

BTC's global mining seems resilient, whereas the gold mining industry hasn't been resilient during the CoronaVirus Pandemic-induced lock-downs.

We also discuss a resurgence of gold-backed stable coins. It was already tried with E-gold...and that didn't turn out too well. Josh's take on them is that he doesn't mind them but has concerns about the level of trust you'd need.

Plan₿’s new Stock-to-Flow Asset Model

We discuss his new model which includes the idea of "Phase Transitions" and how he foresees bad things if BTC hits $288,000 like he predicts. He mentioned he'll go dark if this happens.

So he predicts bad things if Bitcoin goes up. And I , and others, predict bad things if BTC and the Crypto market goes down. So either way, people are predicting bad things will happen. I tend to side more with Erik Vorhees in thinking we need an escape hatch, a lifeboat, a lifeline, a lunar Garden of Eden...anything to save us from the money printing going BRRRRR into a financial apocalypse.

It's a bi-polar world when it comes to BTC holdings.

BCH dominance in KangarooLand

BCH dominace there was unreal last month. We talked about it and you can read more about it here.

Craig Wright is a Plagiarist

Crazy Craig was caught plagiarizing parts of his PhD thesis. He did some world class copy-and-pasting and just changed around a few words here and there. The negative things we hear about this guy just keep piling up.

Blockstream's Satellite Network Upgrade

You can now download a BTC full node from space. They have leased 6 satellites and it's now 25X faster. I have my disagreements with Blockstream for sure, but this is pretty cool. I have to give credit when it's due.
