My own version of "Puto Bumbong" or steamed rice cake, topped with grated coconut. It was made from grated (boiled) purple yam mixed to white glutinous rice, coconut milk, and ginger juice wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. We have no purple rice so I used ube to make it purple. I put a lot of fresh grated coconut with less sugar because it's healthy than when cooked. And at the start of pandemic, I already heard that virgin coconut oil (vco) may help in fighting covid-19 but same with steam inhalation, and over-the-counter medicines, health authorities warned about it. Though in a recent study of the Department of Science and Technology, suspected covid-19 patients had reduced symptoms and had a faster recovery compared to those who were not administered with virgin coconut oil that was mixed in their meals for a month. (nutraingredients-asia.com) "Coconut oil contains lauric acid and monolaurin can disintegrate the virus envelope, inhibit virus replication, and prevent the binding of viral proteins to the host cell membrane." And according to alternative doctors and researchers of Health Discussion program on our local radio, the reason why kids (breast-fed) are not getting sick or may infected also with covid-19 but not worst like in adults, because of lauric acid content in mother's milk same in coconut milk. According to speaking tree.in (Agrigatorsindia), coconut oil is equal to mother's milk and no other food on earth, including breast milk, has more lauric acid than coconut oil. And since adults no longer drink breast milk for babies, coconut milk is for us. Let's eat food with fresh grated coconut or coconut milk (in moderation) to fight viruses!
