16 Habits That Will Make You Poor A very hot Sabado de Gloria afternoon, with a very cooold morning still. The weather is becoming more weird and we are aware of the many reasons why. And since the weather changed, and I think most of the people are online also, I can't upload photos due to a very poor internet connection since yesterday. So, I will just share to you this 16 habits that will make us poor. I saw this from my aunt's shared post. 1. Smoking If you consume 1 pack of cigarette a day with a price of let's say 100 pesos ($2), just imagine how much you spent for a year, 36K pesos ($720). That could buy more or less 12 sacks of rice or maybe you can build a small house already. And hospital bills is more scary later on if you have burned your organs especially your lungs. 2. Alcoholism Same with smoking, hospital bills and medicines will be your next problems so don't marinate your liver and kidneys 3. Overpriced Coffee Does it taste better if you have bought it at a higher price than the usual coffee you have at home? Will you feel nervousness later when you realized how much you spent just for a coffee when you need to buy more important things, but you're running out of money? 4. Eating out Daily I remember a story of a mom who loves to eat in fast foods everyday with her kids because her husband is a seafarer. Aside from spending her husband's salary from a risky job, a new study shows that those who dine out more showed an increased risk for early death (verywellfit. com) 5. Bottled Water 15-25 pesos ($0.30-$0.50) bottled water is enough for few hours while 1 container water refill for 15-25 pesos is already good for one family for 2-3 days. 6. Video Game Points It may have advantages but the more it has disadvantages if it will lead to social and psychological problems. 7. Gambling As they say, "nobody will save you. Jesus ain't coming down to pay your rent and no lamp has ever produced a Genie." It was in the news last month, a mother sold her 8-month-old baby due to debt from online gambling. 8. Buying Branded Clothes Does it really matters wearing branded clothes? Even if your clothes were from UK (ukay-ukay) if you know how to carry it, carry on! If you know how to be a fashionista, it doesn't matter if it is branded or not. But if you have good reasons then, why you want branded clothes and you can afford it without making "utang", that's totally fine. 9. "Needing" the new iphone Owning a phone is necessary for a variety of reasons, especially nowadays that most of us study and work online. But if it's only for luxury or to impress other people, think many times. 10. Forgetting To Cancel Free Trials If you forgot or don't cancel it on time, you'll be charged, so beware. 11. Not paying your credit card in full High-interest rates waving if you failed to pay it in full by the due date. 12. Unnecessary taxi rides If you have no heavy loads to carry, or it is just few meters away from your destination, walking is good for your health and your pocket. 13. Lottery Tickets Same with gambling, nobody will save you later. Those who are addicted are those who don't usually win, so don't rely your luck on lottery. Work, do extra incomes, and grow your own food. 14. Buying OnlyFans I asked google what's this 🤭. I'm not a "Marites" so...never mind. Better guide your kids when online and teach them how to love nature and animals for we are nearing the deadline to save our planet. 15. Forgetting to look for discounts When I started earning money, I learned to look for big discounts during a sale to save money. Buy more for less. 16. Impulse Buying I usually demand for extra allowance before just to buy what I want and not what I need and ended up having a bad news to my wallet. Don't buy just because you're excited to have a new one, you will regret later. Being poor is okay and you should not be ashamed of it. But being poor because of bad decisions, bad spendings and sometimes resulting to doing crimes is not okay. When you're poor, you're buying less, so less wastes and is better for the environment. You can spend time more with family, friends, pets, and plants. You know you can face adversities because you had lots of practice. Being poor is okay, but being broke is not okay.
