When you have nakakata-cute visitors at night, you will laugh out loud than to be scared. I'm more scared of cats that were about to scratch the dogs joining their cutie masters that smelled foods and lipstick, haha! Actually, they just forced their mom to put some lipstick on their faces to scare grandma and grandpa for we don't practice it. They just wanted to follow what they saw in malls, on tv or in the internet. "Undas" or All Saint's and All Soul's Day is one of the most celebrated traditions of Filipinos aside from Christmas and New Year for the love of God and family. From the last days of October to November 2, we visit, clean, and repair our departed loved ones' tombs, and offer prayers. At home we also pray the 9 day prayer for the dead and for Jesus' sufferings. After that, we are busy preparing food offerings called "kakanin" or umbrella term for sweets made from glutinous rice, grated cassava, coconut milk, and ground glutinous white corn. In other places like in my papa's hometown, they visit their neighbors to collect food offers for the kids using bamboo baskets, or cloth bags. No halloween parties or silly costumes, just eating, laughing, and bonding with living persons. And here, we used to sharing of food blessings to our neighbors and family, and prayers, prayers, prayers. No, spirits, spiders and webs were harmed, and we seldom talk and watch ghost stories, movies, and personal experiences in this time. Let's talk and think more about God and let His love fill our hearts and our souls than horrors. Let's celebrate more holiness and goodness of Saints and Souls and bonding with our families, not scariness. Happy Holywin2021 everyone! 🙏💖
